ABOUT THE ROLE 

Role Description:

The Senior Manager – Accounting & Tax will support Amgen’s operations across a region of countries with primary responsibility for accounting and financial reporting, and secondary responsibility for tax oversight and coordination.

This role will act as a key controllership partner to regional finance leadership, ensure strong financial governance, and lead a team of accounting professionals. The position will collaborate closely with country and regional Finance departments, Global Accounting, Global Tax, and external auditors to ensure compliance with internal policies and local statutory requirements.

Roles & Responsibilities:  

  • Lead regional accounting activities, ensuring timely and accurate month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close.

  • Ensures, monitors and checks that all accounting matters are handled timely and accurately, and completed according to corporate (i.e., US GAAP) and local accounting principles and under guidance of tax and corp. accounting

  • Ensures, monitors and checks fulfillment of all accounting and reporting activities as well as local tax authority’s requirements in compliance to the applicable legislation

  • Oversee preparation and review of statutory financial statements across multiple jurisdictions.

  • Serve as the primary regional contact for external auditors and manage statutory audits end‑to‑end.

  • Identify accounting, compliance, and control risks and drive remediation actions.

  • Provide regional oversight and coordination for direct and indirect tax matters in partnership with global tax teams and external advisors.

  • Review tax provisions and tax‑related disclosures as part of financial reporting.

  • Support transfer pricing compliance and intercompany accounting activities.

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of 2–3 accounting professionals.

  • Partner with regional finance leadership, country finance teams and global teams on finance transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Functional Skills:

  • Financial accounting and controllership

  • Statutory reporting and audit management

  • Financial close and balance sheet governance

  • Regional and multi‑country compliance oversight

  • Tax coordination and financial reporting support

Must-Have Skills:

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge (US GAAP / IFRS)

  • Experience managing statutory reporting and audits across multiple countries

  • Proven ability to operate in a regional or multinational environment

  • Prior people management experience

  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills

Good-to-Have Skills:

  • Professional accounting qualification (CA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent)

  • Experience working with Shared Service Centers

  • Exposure to international tax concepts (corporate tax, VAT/GST, withholding tax)

  • Experience supporting finance transformation or system initiatives

Soft Skills: 

  • Strong ownership and accountability mindset

  • Attention to detail with the ability to manage complexity

  • Ability to influence and collaborate across cultures and geographies

  • Problem‑solving and continuous improvement orientation

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master’s or Bachelor's degree and 12-15 years of work experience in a relevant field.
