ABOUT THE ROLE
Role Description:
As an AI/ML Engineer within Amgen’s AI/ML Innovation Lab, you will design, build, and operationalize machine learning models that power innovation across Amgen’s scientific and operational domains.
This position has to collaborate closely with internal SMEs, data engineers,
and vendor’s technical teams to deliver scalable, compliant AI solutions aligned with Amgen’s R&D, Manufacturing, IT, and Commercial objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, train, and validate AI/ML and GenAI models for research, operations, and commercial applications.
- Partner with data engineers to build and optimize data pipelines for model ingestion.
- Work on model explainability, validation, and auditability aligned to Amgen’s governance standards.
- Contribute to PoC design, experimentation, and evaluation phases in the Innovation Lab.
- Collaborate with vendor team to integrate models into apps and dashboards.
- Ensure adherence to data privacy, GxP, and Responsible AI guidelines.
- Document model development, versioning, and performance metrics for governance reviews.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in Data Science / Machine Learning engineering.
- Proficiency in Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, or similar
- Experience in AWS ML services (SageMaker, Lambda, S3, Glue, Redshift).
- Solid grasp of MLOps practices — model tracking, CI/CD, deployment automation.
- Strong statistical and analytical background.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to GenAI / LLM frameworks (LangChain, OpenAI APIs, Hugging Face).
- Experience in regulated data environments (pharma / life sciences).
- Familiarity with MLflow, Databricks, Airflow for experimentation and orchestration.
- Knowledge of data governance and model validation frameworks.
