ABOUT THE ROLE
Role Description:
As an SAP Integration Developer – EDI Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in the design, development, and implementation of Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) solutions within Amgen’s SAP ecosystem, with a primary focus on IBM Sterling Integrator (SI). You will be responsible for enabling seamless, secure, and compliant data exchange between Amgen and its trading partners, leveraging SAP EDI/IDoc standards, IBM Sterling, and modern integration platforms such as SAP Cloud Platform Integration (CPI) and MuleSoft.
This role requires strong technical expertise in SAP-EDI integration and the ability to align EDI solutions with Amgen’s integration strategy and Clean Core principles. You will collaborate closely with SAP functional and technical teams, external partners, and business stakeholders to deliver robust and high-performing integration solutions that enhance operational efficiency and data accuracy.
Roles & Responsibilities:
EDI Solution Development: Design, develop, and implement EDI solutions using SAP EDI/IDoc standards and IBM Sterling Integrator (SI), ensuring reliable and efficient data exchange between Amgen and external trading partners.
Mapping & Configuration: Develop and maintain EDI maps and translation specifications for message formats including ANSI X12, EDIFACT, and TRADACOM, ensuring accurate data transformation and compliance with partner requirements.
Middleware Integration: Configure and maintain interfaces between SAP and EDI systems, utilizing middleware platforms such as IBM Sterling Integrator (SI) and SAP CPI for secure and optimized integrations.
System Configuration: Design and configure IBM Sterling Integrator workflows, adapters, and communication setups (AS2, SFTP, HTTPS, VAN) for seamless partner connectivity.
Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Proactively monitor EDI transactions, identify bottlenecks, and resolve issues within IBM Sterling and SAP IDoc processes to ensure minimal disruption to business operations.
Compliance & Standards: Ensure EDI solutions comply with industry standards, SAP best practices, and data security regulations, maintaining audit readiness and data integrity.
Partner Collaboration: Work closely with external trading partners to onboard new integrations, manage EDI testing, and troubleshoot data discrepancies.
Documentation & Support: Maintain detailed documentation of EDI configurations, technical designs, mappings, and support procedures. Provide training and technical guidance to users and support teams.
Continuous Improvement: Evaluate system performance and recommend enhancements to improve EDI efficiency, scalability, and reliability across Amgen’s integration landscape.
Basic Qualifications and Experience
Doctorate degree OR
Master’s degree in computer science or STEM majors and 2 to 4 years of IT or related field experience OR
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or STEM majors and 4 to 6 years of IT or related field experience OR
Diploma in computer science or STEM majors and 6 to 8 years of IT or related field experience
Functional Skills:
Must-Have Skills:
Proven experience in SAP EDI/IDoc interface development and configuration.
Hands-on expertise in IBM Sterling Integrator (SI) – including business process development, communication setup, and adapter configuration.
Strong understanding of SAP-EDI integration architecture, ensuring smooth communication between SAP modules and external trading partners.
Proficiency in IBM Sterling and managing integrations between SAP and EDI systems.
Experience with monitoring, issue resolution, and performance optimization of EDI transactions in high-volume environments.
Good-to-Have Skills:
Familiarity with cloud integration platforms (AWS, Azure) to enable cloud-based EDI extensions.
Experience with SAP BTP integration capabilities to enhance EDI solutions.
Understanding of Agile/DevOps methodologies, including CI/CD pipeline management and automated deployment of integration artifacts
Professional Certifications:
IBM Sterling Integrator (SI)or EDI-related certifications (preferred)
SAP Certified Development Specialist – SAP Integration (preferred)
Agile Certified Practitioner (preferred)
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a proven ability to quickly resolve EDI-related integration issues.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders and document technical solutions.
High degree of initiative and self-motivation, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
