ABOUT THE ROLE
Role Description:
The Project Manager, Project Management, Global Learning Solutions (GLS), reports to the Associate Director of Learning & Development, Global Learning Solutions, and leads the team of Project Managers and Project Coordinators.
This role is responsible for overseeing project intake, scoping, planning, and delivery activities performed by the GLS Project Management team. The Project Manager ensures that the team is effectively resourced, aligned to priorities, and working efficiently. This includes managing project queue and capacity, coaching team members, and supporting professional development.
In addition to managing the team, the role is accountable for improving GLS project management processes, creating supporting documentation, and partnering cross-functionally to ensure training projects are delivered on time, with quality, and in compliance with Amgen standards. The Project Manager also owns the relationship with the LMS Testing team, the LMS Business Analyst, and the 3rd-party vendor managing the LMS testing queue, ensuring that GLS processes align with vendor operations for smooth handoffs and efficient execution during project development and LMS testing.
Roles & Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and develop a team of GLS Project Managers and Project Coordinators.
Manage project intake, queue, and capacity across the team, ensuring balanced workload and alignment to organizational priorities.
Oversee the delivery of projects across GLS, ensuring adherence to intake, scoping, planning, and closeout processes.
Create and maintain process documentation, templates, and standards to drive consistency and efficiency in GLS project management.
Partner with the LMS Testing team, LMS Business Analyst, and 3rd-party LMS testing vendor to ensure seamless handoffs, aligned processes, and smooth testing and deployment of training content.
Provide stakeholder management and communication for escalations and high-impact projects.
Monitor and report on project management team performance, metrics, and resource utilization.
Contribute to GLS strategy by recommending improvements to team operations, processes, and tools.
Stay current on industry trends in project management and learning operations to inform best practices.
Basic Qualifications and Experience:
Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, Engineering, IT or related field
AND
9+ years of Project/Program Management experience
AND
3+ years of people leadership experience in a global or matrixed environment
Functional Skills:
Must-Have Skills:
Demonstrated leadership and people management experience, with ability to coach and develop a team
Expertise in project management practices, tools, and methodologies
Strong capacity and resource management experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Project, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office 365 suite
Ability to build and maintain relationships across cross-functional teams (e.g., instructional design, development, LMS operations)
Strong stakeholder management, with ability to escalate and resolve issues effectively
Good-to-Have Skills:
Familiarity with instructional design and eLearning development processes
Experience creating process documentation, templates, and team standards
Knowledge of LMS operations, testing, and integration processes
Experience in vendor and translation project oversight
Professional Certifications
PMP certification required
Agile/Scrum certification preferred
