Senior Manager – JAPAC Finance

The JAPAC Finance Senior Manager will lead a team of FP&A staff and Finance & Administration (F&A) staff based in Amgen India responsible for supporting JAPAC financial planning, forecasting, management reporting, consolidation, and ad-hoc projects. You will also support JAPAC finance and administration activities, including close support, financial controls, cash-flow forecasting, statutory and audit support, and accurate financial reporting. In this vital role, you will report to the Director of FP&A.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of FP&A staff and F&A staff for JAPAC based in Amgen India and serve as the primary point of contact between Amgen India FP&A and JAPAC FP&A and F&A teams.
  • Lead planning-cycle activities for forecasts, actuals, budgets, long-range plans, quarterly business reviews, and leadership outlooks, including local data collection, consolidation, reasonableness checks, and commentary preparation.
  • Coordinate regional forecasting and reporting through Excel-based templates and consolidation files; prepare accurate, timely outputs for regional and global stakeholders.
  • Manage planning and reporting systems activities across the forecasting cycle, including template preparation and alignment, Anaplan inputs, Hyperion loading, and master-data maintenance.
  • Develop and publish management reporting materials, including Power BI dashboards, weekly sales reporting, PowerPoint presentations, and components-of-growth reviews.
  • Provide insightful financial analysis and commentary on business performance, growth drivers, investment trade-offs, forecast risks and opportunities, and market trends.
  • Support budget coordination and expense management activities, including purchase orders, SPOC and non-PO accruals, actuals tracking, and OPEX and T&E monitoring.
  • Support finance reviews of distributor claims, margins, free goods, royalties, profit-share arrangements, sales reconciliations, pricing set-up, contract-management activities, and related data validation.
  • Drive standardization, automation, and continuous improvement of FP&A processes, templates, and reporting tools in collaboration with JAPAC, US, and global counterparts.
  • Coordinate F&A close and reporting activities, including SPOC and non-PO accruals, review of prepayments and deposits, manual journal entries, payroll and non-payroll journal preparation, and local GAAP journal posting.
  • Prepare and maintain monthly cash-flow forecasts, support intercompany payment documentation, cash accounting, bank reconciliations, intercompany bank transfers, and bank-signatory administration.
  • Support transfer-pricing and related processes, including management-fee and transfer-pricing adjustment calculations, actual true-up validation, Business Travel Account (BTA) reconciliation, and Gross-To-Net (GTN) settlement review.
  • Perform finance review of payments, support VAT-preparation data, monitor T&E in accordance with local guidance, and maintain strong controls over payment and expense-management activities.
  • Prepare financial reporting packages and monthly and quarterly reconciliations between US GAAP and local GAAP, including trial-balance, income-statement, and balance-sheet analysis.
  • Support statutory and internal audits, local government statistical and regulatory surveys, IICC testing, and timely resolution of audit findings and control issues.
  • Maintain accurate supporting records, including fixed-asset registers, bank statements, vendor reconciliations, and documentation required for local statutory, tax, and finance processes.
  • Ensure the quality, completeness, and timeliness of assigned F&A deliverables; identify opportunities to standardize, automate, and continuously improve processes and controls.
  • Build trusted working relationships with finance, tax, treasury, controllership, and business stakeholders across JAPAC, US, and global teams.
  • Escalate material risks, exceptions, and issues promptly to the JAPAC Finance Director, and communicate clearly and proactively with relevant stakeholders.
  • Prioritize career development and mentoring of the Amgen India (JAPAC Finance) team.
  • Ensure team deliverables are completed accurately and on time, with clear, proactive communication to JAPAC Finance and other global finance stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Chartered accountant, Cost Accountant, CPA or a Master’s degree in Economics, Finance or Business & Administration
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, G&A Finance, Technology Finance, Project Controls, or a related finance discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry experience
  • Experience managing teams and operating in a multiple time-zone environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, long-range planning, management reporting, consolidation, and quarter-close activities
  • Strong analytical skills; ability to be decisive, build teams, and provide leadership
  • Excellent discernment (e.g., knowledge of business drivers, finding solutions, and knowledge of accounting, finance, and other business areas)

Good-to-Have Skills:

  • Big 4 and Fortune 500 FP&A experience
  • Initiative-taker with excellent analytical and presentation skills
  • Capable of building and maintaining complex financial models and management reporting tools
  • Solid overall knowledge of financial systems and tools (e.g., SAP, Hyperion, Anaplan, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, Tableau)
  • Solid understanding of forecasting, long-range planning, budgeting, business partnering, and variance analysis
  • Proven ability to work effectively in ambiguous situations and team environment

Soft Skills:

  • Analytical, interpersonal, team building, leadership, and conflict resolution skills
  • Effective communication skills (both verbal and written), including the ability to interact with Amgen senior management effectively and confidentially
  • Ability to work effectively with global, virtual teams
  • High degree of initiative and self-motivation
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities successfully
  • Collaborative, with a focus on achieving team goals
