Director, AI-Enabled Manufacturing Innovation (IVI)
India - Hyderabad Apply NowJob Summary
The Director, AI-Enabled Manufacturing Innovation (IVI) is a senior leader within Amgen India (AIN) responsible for building and leading a product-led, AI-first delivery organization that accelerates digital and data-enabled capabilities across Amgen’s global manufacturing network.
This role sits at the intersection of Manufacturing, Technology, and Quality and serves as a primary interface between site and functional end users and technology delivery partners—ensuring capabilities are designed with user needs, deployed with strong adoption discipline, and sustained at scale. The Director will establish and operate a repeatable lifecycle to move initiatives from concept to pilot to multi-site deployment while protecting GxP compliance, inspection readiness, supply continuity, and day-to-day performance.
A key early priority is building the Innovation Velocity Interface (IVI) team in AIN, followed by operationalizing an execution model that can deliver measurable outcomes and continuously scale new capabilities over time.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Operating Model
- Define and implement the IVI strategy and operating model aligned to manufacturing transformation priorities and enterprise standards.
- Establish a repeatable delivery lifecycle (e.g., intake → prioritize → prototype → validate → scale → sustain) with clear readiness and decision gates.
- Translate business objectives into a prioritized portfolio of capabilities with measurable outcomes and a sustainable roadmap.
Execution & Delivery (AI-first, Product-led)
- Lead a portfolio of digital and data-enabled capabilities that improve operational effectiveness, visibility, standardization, and scalability across the manufacturing network.
- Apply a Generative and Agentic AI-first mindset to solution discovery and delivery while ensuring appropriate controls, data integrity, and responsible use.
- Drive disciplined execution across requirements, design, build partnership, testing, deployment, stabilization, and ongoing enhancement.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Ensure delivery is executed within required GxP/regulatory expectations, validation practices, and audit-ready documentation standards.
- Partner with Quality and business stakeholders to ensure appropriate decision-making, evidence capture, and compliance-by-design.
- Maintain active risk/issue/dependency management, escalation discipline, and routine executive reporting.
Stakeholder Partnership & Customer Engagement
- Serve as a trusted partner to manufacturing sites and functions, ensuring solutions are anchored in real operational needs and adoption requirements.
- Ensure end-user engagement (requirements and testing) is structured, efficient, and minimizes burden on site teams while preserving critical expertise.
- Build strong cross-functional alignment across manufacturing, technology delivery, and quality organizations.
Talent Leadership & Organizational Build (AIN)
- Hire, onboard, and develop a high-performing team in AIN (product and engagement leadership, product owners, and supporting roles).
- Build a culture of innovation, accountability, learning, and execution excellence, balanced with rigor for regulated operations.
- Establish clear role expectations, performance management, and capability development pathways for the IVI organization.
Scale, Sustain, and Continuous Improvement
- Ensure scaled capabilities are stabilized, adopted, and sustained with clear ownership, support models, and enhancement backlogs.
- Track outcomes and operational performance through KPIs (e.g., adoption health, cycle time improvement, standardization, quality of insights, execution reliability).
- Capture lessons learned from deployments and continuously improve the IVI delivery model and governance.
Preferred Qualifications
- 18 to 23 years of experience leading digital enablement, product delivery, operational transformation, and/or capability building in a regulated environment (biopharma/manufacturing preferred).
- Demonstrated success building and leading teams (including leader-first hiring and scaling new organizations).
- Strong fluency in product management and modern delivery practices (roadmapping, prioritization, user-centered design, adoption at scale).
- Practical understanding of applying AI and advanced analytics in enterprise settings (including governance, controls, and value measurement).
- Strong working knowledge of GxP expectations, audit readiness, and delivering solutions in regulated operations (partnering effectively with Quality and compliance stakeholders).
- Proven ability to influence across a complex global network without direct authority; strong executive communication and stakeholder management.
- Experience operating within governance and funding release mechanisms, with disciplined planning, reporting, and escalation.
