ABOUT THE ROLE

Role Description:

The Sr Associate will drive the Data Operations of the platform for a Therapeutic Area (multiple brands) and will be responsible for execution of enhancements on the Data Platform for those brands. The Sr Associate role will be the liaison for all stakeholders of the brands (Field Excellence including Reporting & IC, Brand Analytics, Forecasting, V & A etc.) driving continuous innovation and operational excellence. The role will partner with the AIN Manager as well as cross-functional teams including Technology teams in AIN and US, Data Management Leads in the US and AIN team members from the stakeholder functions in execution of Enhancements for the brands. The role will serve as the SME of the data sets specific to the Brand(s) and will be the Point of Contact for intake and dispositioning of requests from all stakeholders. The role will also serve as the first gate for triage of the requests and will be responsible for dispositioning them as Incidents vs Enhancements and also will be responsible for routing the requests to the appropriate teams.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Execution of Data-Enabling Features in Product Teams

  • Partner with domain specific Product Teams in execution and deployment of features for a Therapeutic Area aligned with standard operating procedures
  • Serve as Data Platform liaison for a Therapeutic Area or a set of brands for stakeholders across the US Commercial Organization (including Incentive Compensation, Field Reporting, Forecasting, Secondary Analytics) as well as cross functional teams
  • As liaison for all stakeholder functions for the brand or Therapeutic area, partner with the Product teams in execution of various stages of SDLC following the Agile SaFE methodology– including requirements gathering sessions, design, testing and documentation
  • Partner with peers in the US Data Platform teams and technology teams in AIN and US to review requests, design solutions, estimate effort and prioritize requests in assigned Product backlog
  • Ensure adherence to established Governance principles of the Data Platform in all stages of the SDLC – including Request Intake, Dispositioning, System and User Acceptance testing, documentation, metadata management and Release management
  • Communicate with stakeholders through various stages of the SDLC and ensure alignment with stakeholders, and Data Platforms management on effort, solution, timelines and expectations
  • Responsible for working with syndicated data sets including IQVIA data – DDD, Xponent, ELAAD, etc., Digital Marketing data sets including Patient and Physician level data sets and internal data sets like HR data, Call Activity data from CRM systems, Patient Hub data to set up and enable HCP & Patient centric connected data sets for our stakeholders
  • Responsible for the Operations of the Platform for the assigned TA / Brands – ensuring that the data sets are refreshed per SLA and per the established cadence
  • Manage the Big Data platform infrastructure (Built on AWS tech / Airflow for Data storage and orchestration and Databricks for processing) – including access to the platform, platform costs, ad hoc capabilities for users, data quality, etc.
  • Partner in evaluation and implementation of tools and technologies to support the future state of the platform including Automated Anomaly detection, Automated document generation, LLM models on data and documents and other Gen AI capabilities
  • Partner with the Technology teams and direct line management to implement processes to monitor system health, set up alerts for anomalies and implement steps to proactively remediate areas of concern on the infrastructure front
  • Partner with peers across our four pillars – Master Data Management, Data Platforms, Patient Data Management, Data Acquisition & Governance to ensure alignment on solutions implemented for stakeholders
  • Identify and highlight roadblocks, process gaps, and resourcing needs to the Leadership team as part of continuous improvement efforts.

Manage Work Transition and Insourcing

  • With direction from the Data Platforms management, transition Operational activities from the vendor partner teams to the AIN team. Build robust repository of knowledge transition documents and set up processes for efficient operations within a global team framework
  • Create documentation on the Data flows, business process flows and ensure seamless transition with minimal business disruption.
  • Develop standard processes and documents for onboarding new team members
  • Execute Operations of the Platform for assigned Brands and domains in partnership with the technology teams in AIN and US.

Facilitate Cross-Team and Organizational Engagement and Alignment

  • Partner closely with peers in Commercial Data Strategy core pillars and Data Management Leads in AIN to contribute to delivering against our priority initiatives and establish new ways of working, especially across time zones.
  • Work with our Technology/IT partners and the US team members in Product Team setting and partner with other Product teams to ensure deliverables are aligned with the Platform governance model
  • Act as a liaison between at our Amgen India Innovation Center with other Customer Data & Analytics Teams to ensure alignment on goals, processes, and success measures.

Basic Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master’s degree and 2 to 4 years of data management experience OR
  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 to 6 years of relevant data management experience
  • Proven experience in working in global teams and across time zones and cultures
  • Proven experience in working in Product teams and delivering high quality solution in adherence with established processes
  • Strong stakeholder management, and communication skills.
  • Excellent English oral and written communication.

Functional Skills:

Must-Have Skills:

  • Prior experience working in high-performing data management teams, with clear demonstrations of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Prior experience supporting Data Platforms Operations - including executing in Agile Product teams, partnering in phased execution of Platform enhancements and innovations
  • Prior experience in data architecture and data flow design, data modelling and in data profiling
  • Prior hands-on experience and expertise in technologies such as AWS and Databricks with ability to dig into code and partner with teams in Root cause analysis and in planning and implementing long term remediation
  • Hands-on experience with data analysis using tools and technologies like SQL, Python, R, etc.
  • Quick learning agility to understand new concepts such as our end-to-end Commercial data flows to identify and remediate interdependencies.
  • Inclination to continue learning and adopt and adapt new concepts and technologies and propose innovation ideas to leadership.

Good-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience working in the life sciences commercial data domain space, ideally in the areas of Data Platforms and Patient Data.
  • Understanding of the syndicated commercial data sets and use cases
  • Worked in multinational settings with teams from different countries.
  • Basic understanding of compliance and data privacy requirements.

Soft Skills:

  • Exceptional collaboration and communication skills.
  • Strong data & analytics/critical-thinking and decision-making abilities.
  • Able to perform well in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Strong oral, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts and controversial findings clearly and compellingly.
