India - Hyderabad Apply NowThe Data Engineer position offers a unique opportunity to join a fun, innovative engineering team within the AI & Data Science (AI&D) organization. You’ll work on next-generation capabilities and services in Applied AI & Automation using innovative COTS products, open-source software, frameworks, tools, and cloud computing services. The role also emphasizes demonstrating these capabilities to support critical business operations and initiatives, in ensuring quality, compliance, and performance across Amgen’s Applied AI & Automation Footprint.
The role is responsible for designing, building, maintaining, analyzing, and interpreting data to provide actionable insights that drive business decisions. This role involves working with large datasets, developing reports, supporting and executing data governance initiatives and, visualizing data to ensure data is accessible, reliable, and efficiently managed. The ideal candidate has strong technical skills, experience in Process Intelligence technologies, domain expertise in SAP ECC or S/4 Hana, Python, Databricks, and AWS Data Services.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Data Architects, Business SMEs, and automation engineers to perform data integration, create data models, design and develop dashboards and action flows
- Run discovery workshops with various business stakeholders to Model and design processes using BPMN
- Perform process and root cause analysis to identify metrics & KPIs
- Use Process Copilots/AI assistants to speed extraction, modeling, analysis and surface insights.
- Stay current with the latest AI/ML and GenAI tooling and actively contribute to internal knowledge-sharing forums
Basic Qualifications and Experience:
- Any degree and 5 to 9 years of Computer Science, IT or related field experience
Functional Skills:
Must-Have Skills (Not more than 3 to 4):
- Hands-on experience with one or more Process Intelligence tools like Celonis
- Domain knowledge expertise with multiple SAP processes
- Knowledge of BPM tools and their standard practices
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (eg. SQL) and experience with data visualization tools
- Hands-on experience scripting languages (e.g Python)
- Knowledge of RAG pipelines & prompt engineering
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work with large, complex datasets
- Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, tools, and best practices.
- Knowledge of data protection regulations and compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA)
Good-to-Have Skills:
- Experience with BI/Visualization tools, RPA Tools (e.g UiPath)
- Understanding of workflow tools (e.g SAP BPA)
- Good understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and data integration concepts
- Knowledge of Python/R, Databricks, SageMaker, cloud data platforms
- Knowledge of agentic AI or agent-based automation such as AWS BDA, OpenAI, Langchain, Langgraph
Preferred Professional Certifications
- Certified Data Engineer / Data Analyst (preferred on Databricks or cloud environments)
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt

Shift Information:
This position requires you to work a later shift and may be assigned a second or third shift schedule. Candidates must be willing and able to work during evening or night shifts, as required based on business requirements.
