ABOUT THE ROLE
Role Description:
The Associate Director, Data Acquisition provides enterprise leadership for external data acquisition, interoperability, vendor integration, and end-to-end clinical data flow strategy across therapeutic area portfolios. The role drives governance, operating model evolution, modernization, organizational capability development, and future-state external data ecosystems while ensuring delivery of scalable, compliant, interoperable, analytics-enabled, and inspection-ready external data solutions across global portfolios.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Own and drive enterprise external data acquisition, interoperability, integration, and end-to-end clinical data flow strategy across therapeutic area portfolios.
Drive adoption, scalability, and evolution of enterprise governance and interoperability frameworks, vendor integration processes, reconciliation methodologies, API strategies, and interoperability standards.
Lead, coach, and develop direct reports through performance management, talent development, succession planning, and capability building activities.
Drive workforce planning and talent allocation across programs to ensure optimal utilization of data acquisition resources.
Define and lead enterprise interoperability and modernization transformation strategies focused on automation, AI-enabled reconciliation, digital integration frameworks, and scalable external data ecosystems.
Provide strategic oversight of portfolio-level integration health, vendor performance, operational scalability, compliance, and inspection readiness.
Lead governance forums and resolve complex vendor integration, interoperability, and compliance issues across programs and portfolios.
Partner with Digital & Technology organizations and cross-functional stakeholders to optimize enterprise clinical data integration capabilities and operating models.
Influence enterprise external data strategy, vendor governance models, and digital transformation initiatives across clinical development programs.
Mentor and develop Senior Managers and functional leaders while driving workforce planning, succession planning, organizational design, and capability development initiatives.
Drive cross-therapeutic area harmonization of vendor integration, reconciliation, and interoperability standards.
Represent Data Acquisition in enterprise governance forums, digital transformation initiatives, and cross-functional leadership reviews.
Accountabilities:
Provides enterprise leadership for external data acquisition strategy, governance, modernization, and operational excellence across global portfolios.
Ensures delivery of scalable, interoperable, compliant, inspection-ready, and analytics-enabled external data solutions across studies and programs.
Leads and develops Senior Managers and functional leadership teams while driving standardization, automation, and organizational capability development.
Influences enterprise integration operating models, vendor governance frameworks, and future-state external data ecosystems.
Drives portfolio-level operational performance, vendor oversight excellence, interoperability, and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with enterprise objectives.
Basic Qualifications and Experience:
Doctorate degree and 10 years of relevant experience; OR
Master’s degree and 13 years of relevant experience; OR
Bachelor’s degree and 15 years of relevant experience.
Minimum 5 years of people management experience, including experience leading leaders, global teams, portfolios, organizational strategy, vendor oversight, or enterprise resource planning activities within clinical development organizations.
Experience leading enterprise external data acquisition, interoperability, vendor integration, operating model development, or clinical data operations across complex portfolios.
Preferred Experience:
15+ years of experience in clinical data management, external data integration, vendor oversight, or clinical operations within global biopharmaceutical development, including 5+ years of people leadership experience.
Extensive leadership experience managing complex external data ecosystems and enterprise integration models.
Proven experience leading enterprise-scale modernization, automation, and digital transformation initiatives.
Deep expertise in interoperability frameworks, API integrations, reconciliation methodologies, and analytics-ready external data ecosystems.
Strong portfolio leadership experience across complex global therapeutic area programs.
Experience defining operating models, governance frameworks, and enterprise vendor oversight strategies.
Demonstrated success leading organizational change and digital transformation initiatives.
Strong understanding of RBQM, centralized monitoring, clinical data standards, inspection readiness, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
Experience influencing executive stakeholders and enterprise-level strategic decisions.
Experience building and leading high-performing global organizations and leadership teams.
