ABOUT THE ROLE

Role Description:

The Associate IS Engineer position offers a unique opportunity to join a fun, innovative engineering team within the AI & Data Science (AI&D) organization. You’ll work on next-generation capabilities and services in Applied AI & Automation using innovative COTS products, open-source software, frameworks, tools, and cloud computing services. The role also emphasizes demonstrating these capabilities to support critical business operations and initiatives, in ensuring quality, compliance, and performance across Amgen’s Applied AI & Automation Footprint.

The Associate IS Engineer is responsible for operating, maintaining, and continuously improving the Intelligent Automation platforms to meet business needs. This role focuses on day-to-day platform operations provisioning and access, monitoring and incident response, change/release and upgrades, capacity/performance, and license/compliance. The role partners with architects, security, infrastructure, and product teams to ensure reliable, secure, and scalable service against SLAs. Strong systems knowledge, troubleshooting, and clear stakeholder communication are essential.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Operate and administer Intelligent Automation platforms using UiPath, or Power Automate.
  • Monitor health, availability, and performance; define SLAs; implement alerting and observability (logs/metrics/traces).
  • Manage incidents, problems, and changes; maintain on-call runbooks; drive RCA and postmortems.
  • Plan and execute upgrades, patches, and hotfixes with validation and rollback strategies.
  • Govern releases and environment promotions via CI/CD; enforce segregation of duties and package/code signing.
  • Forecast and optimize capacity, licensing, and cost, track utilization and scale proactively.
  • Provide L2/L3 support and user enablement; onboard teams; deliver platform capability demos.
  • Partner with product, security, infrastructure, and business stakeholders to align roadmap and intake.
  • Define and report on operational KPIs (uptime, MTTR, change failure rate, license utilization).
  • Follow Agile/ITIL practices for ops work (sprint planning, backlog grooming, iterative service improvements).
  • Create and maintain documentation on software architecture, design, deployment, disaster recovery, and operations.

Basic Qualifications and Experience:

  • Any degree and 2 to 5 years of Computer Science, IT or related field experience

Functional Skills:

Must-Have Skills:

  • Experience with low-code/no-code technology platform operations like UiPath, Power Automate
  • Experience in GxP and systems validation
  • Knowledge of using Agile Methodologies to implement solutions

Good-to-Have Skills:

  • Good understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Databricks)
  • Knowledge in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript or other programming languages
  • Knowledge of agentic AI or agent-based automations
  • Ability to analyze client requirements and translate them into solutions

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Demonstrated awareness of how to function in a team setting
  • Demonstrated awareness of presentation skills

Shift Information:

This position requires you to work a later shift and may be assigned a second or third shift schedule. Candidates must be willing and able to work during evening or night shifts, as required based on business requirements.
