ABOUT THE ROLE
Role Description:
The Associate Dev/Ops position offers a unique opportunity to join a fun, innovative engineering team within the AI & Data Science (AI&D) organization. You’ll work on next-generation capabilities and services in Applied AI & Automation using innovative COTS products, open-source software, frameworks, tools, and cloud computing services. The role also emphasizes demonstrating these capabilities to support critical business operations and initiatives, in ensuring quality, compliance, and performance across Amgen’s Applied AI & Automation Footprint.
The Associate Dev/Ops role contributes to the design, development, testing, and implementation of Intelligent Automation solutions that support business needs. This role works closely with architects, testers, engineers, and business analysts to help deliver high-quality, scalable automation solutions using modern technologies. The engineer is expected to have foundational knowledge of system architecture, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to clearly communicate technical concepts, while continuing to build expertise in Intelligent Automation and Agile delivery practices under guidance from senior team members.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the design, development, testing, and deployment of automation workflows using UiPath, Power Automate.
- Assist in integrating AI services and APIs into automation pipelines for use cases such as document processing, summarization, and workflow decisioning.
- Develop and maintain automation components, scripts, and connectors using Python, JavaScript, or similar languages under guidance.
- Support CI/CD pipelines for automation and AI solutions, including build, deployment, and environment promotion activities.
- Assist with monitoring, logging, and basic performance analysis of automation and AI services.
- Participate in incident response and troubleshooting activities, escalating issues as appropriate.
- Support solution availability, reliability, and cost-awareness initiatives.
- Work as part of a global team of automation and DevOps engineers contributing to enterprise AI & Automation solutions.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including architects, testers, business analysts, and product owners to deliver incremental value.
- Follow established enterprise architecture, security, and data governance standards.
- Support validation activities and documentation required for regulated (GxP) environments.
- Ensure solutions adhere to defined development, testing, and deployment best practices.
- Stay current with emerging DevOps, automation, and Applied AI technologies.
- Contribute to documentation, knowledge sharing, and internal demos under guidance.
- Continuously improve technical and professional skills through hands-on experience and mentoring.
Basic Qualifications and Experience:

- Any degree and 2 to 5 years of Computer Science, IT or related field experience
Functional Skills:
Must-Have Skills:
- Hands on experience in Intelligent Automation platforms such as UiPath or Power Automate.
- Foundational experience with DevOps, automation, or software engineering concepts.
- Basic programming or scripting experience (e.g., Python, JavaScript).
- Understanding of Agile methodologies and team-based delivery models.
- Willingness to learn enterprise DevOps, automation, and AI solution engineering practices.
Good-to-Have Skills:
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools and version control systems.
- Introductory knowledge of AI/ML or GenAI concepts and services.
- Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments.

Shift Information:
This position requires you to work a later shift and may be assigned a second or third shift schedule. Candidates must be willing and able to work during evening or night shifts, as required based on business requirements.
