What you will do

Reporting to the Business Unit Lead, General Medicine, the Sales Manager – Cardiovascular is a critical commercial leadership role accountable for delivering ambitious financial goals, leading a high-performing sales team, and winning in a dynamic and highly competitive market environment. This role is responsible for building organizational capability, embedding Amgen’s sales excellence expectations and driving disciplined execution with the highest standards of integrity and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing sales team to consistently achieve ambitious commercial objectives through disciplined execution and high-quality customer engagement.
  • Own and deliver sales targets for assigned product(s) across sectors, ensuring strong business performance and effective resource deployment in a highly competitive market.
  • Develop robust business plans and propose quarterly sales targets, aligning closely with the General Manager and Business Unit Lead on priorities, risks, and actions required to deliver results.
  • Design and optimize sales force deployment plans, including territory design, field force allocation, account coverage, and call frequency, to maximize customer impact and business return.
  • Monitor leading and lagging performance indicators, identify capability and execution gaps, and take timely corrective actions to improve business outcomes and sales force effectiveness.
  • Drive adoption of the Amgen Sales Competency Model and ASAM across the team, ensuring structured capability building, high-quality field coaching, and measurable improvement in execution excellence.
  • Build a high-accountability, high-performance team culture through clear goal setting, ongoing coaching, differentiated performance management, and strong development of individual team members.
  • Lead customer engagement strategies for priority accounts, building strong and sustainable partnerships with key stakeholders including physicians, pharmacists, and hospital management.
  • Partner closely with Marketing, Medical Affairs, and VAP teams to ensure aligned cross-functional execution that accelerates business performance and optimizes patient access.
  • Own monthly demand forecasting and work closely with Supply Chain to maintain stable product supply and proactively manage business risks.
  • Ensure all sales activities are conducted in full compliance with internal policies, local codes of practice, and Amgen Values, while maintaining the highest standards of integrity.

  • Proven track record of successfully leading sales teams in highly competitive therapeutic areas, with strong people leadership and commercial delivery.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate strategy into execution, allocate resources effectively, and deliver against ambitious financial goals.
  • Demonstrated strength in sales capability building, field coaching, and embedding structured sales excellence models such as competency-based selling and strategic account management.
  • Strong performance management capability, including setting high standards, providing candid feedback, recognizing strong performance, and addressing underperformance with discipline and urgency.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, market understanding, and adaptability in responding to changing customer, competitor, and business dynamics.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage credibly and effectively at all levels internally and externally.
  • Acts as a role model for Amgen Values and fosters open, honest, and collaborative relationships across the organization.
  • Strong organizational discipline, execution rigor, and the ability to manage complexity while delivering commitments on time.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 15 years of pharmaceutical / biotech industry experience, including at least 8 years in sales leadership roles with direct people management responsibility.
  • Experience in cardiovascular, specialty care, or other highly competitive therapeutic areas is preferred.
  • Computer skills (MS Office + Copilot, Veeva CRM).
  • Fluency in English, both oral and written.
  • Proficiency in Cantonese.
