Let’s do this. Let’s change the world! In this vital role, you will be part of the Facilities organization within the Facilities & Engineering (F&E) team at Amgen's newest manufacturing site in North Carolina!
The Senior Associate, Facilities & Engineering provides operational, documentation, systems and project-coordination support to help enable the reliable operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of facility and utility systems within a GMP biopharmaceutical manufacturing environment. This role partners closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, Validation, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), and Capital Projects to ensure facilities, utilities, and infrastructure remain compliant, reliable, and inspection-ready. This role works under general direction, independently manages assigned coordination activities, and escalates technical, quality, compliance and operational decisions to the appropriate functional owners.

Specific duties include:
·Coordinate day-to-day Facilities & Engineering business operations and logistics, including departmental schedules, vendor and contractor activities, meetings, maintenance events, shutdowns, training activities, and other operational priorities.
·Support vendor, procurement, and financial management activities, including vendor coordination, purchase order administration, invoice reconciliation, spend tracking, and follow-up on deliverables to support departmental priorities and budget adherence.
·Coordinate site utilities billing and payment activities, including invoice review and validation, coordination with utility providers and internal stakeholders, discrepancy resolution, payment tracking, and monitoring of utility expenditures.
·Support Facilities & Engineering inspection readiness by coordinating requests for information, compiling and reviewing documentation and records, tracking commitments, and facilitating timely responses to internal audits and regulatory inspections.
·Serve as the department administrator for the Learning Management System (LMS), partnering with managers and functional leads to maintain training assignments and curricula, monitor completion and compliance, coordinate assessments, and support annual training reviews.
·Support the development and lifecycle management of controlled Facilities & Engineering documentation across multiple teams, including SOPs, JHAs, work instructions, and related documents; manage revision schedules, workflows, reviews, approvals, implementation, and associated action items.
·Maintain departmental performance management and reporting processes by maintaining KPIs, dashboards, trackers, and reporting tools; compile metrics, prepare business review materials, identify overdue actions, and coordinate follow-up with functional leaders.
·Utilize systems and tools such as SAP, Maximo, Smartsheet, Tableau, LMS, and other site platforms to maintain records, manage workflows, monitor activities, and generate routine and ad hoc reports.
·Coordinate and facilitate departmental and cross-functional meetings, including preparation of agendas and materials, documentation of decisions and meeting minutes, tracking of actions and commitments, and scheduling of required follow-up.
·Provide coordination and documentation support for deviations, investigations, CAPAs, change controls, root cause analyses, risk assessments, and other quality or compliance activities, including meeting facilitation and action tracking.
·Support manufacturing campaigns, maintenance outages, shutdowns, startup activities, and capital or expense projects through schedule coordination, stakeholder communication, documentation management, vendor coordination, and tracking of deliverables and action items.
·Provide technical writing and documentation support across Facilities & Engineering, including preparation and revision of reports, presentations, procedures, work instructions, spreadsheets, and other departmental materials.
·Support departmental safety and EHS initiatives, including JHAs, risk assessments, safety workshops, documentation, and tracking of resulting actions and commitments.
·Contribute to continuous improvement of Facilities & Engineering workflows and business practices by identifying opportunities and supporting implementation of approved process improvements across teams to identify opportunities for standardization, improve process efficiency, strengthen compliance, and enhance visibility to departmental performance.
·Coordinate departmental communications and organizational activities, including dashboards, newsletters, project and continuous improvement presentations, team workshops, recognition activities, and other communications supporting alignment across the organization.
·Serve as a central coordination point for Facilities & Engineering leadership and functional teams, proactively managing day-to-day communications, priorities, commitments, and assigned projects while identifying issues and recommending practical solutions or countermeasures.

Basic Qualifications:
Master’s degree
OR
Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of relevant experience
OR
Associate’s degree and 4 years of relevant experience
OR
High school diploma / GED and 6 years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with regulated environments (i.e., cGMP, OSHA, EPA) including detailed understanding of current Good Manufacturing Practices
- Experience with financial tracking
- Strong customer service skills, written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work with minimal direction
- Demonstrated ability to function within cross-functional teams and embrace a team-based culture
- Ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Smartsheet, and various database querying tools
- Excellent facilitation, organizational and planning skills
- Proactive, self-starter with the ability to take on several projects at one time
