Senior Associate, R&D Lab Operations at Amgen Research Copenhagen (ARC)
WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Senior Associate, R&D Lab Operations will apply their scientific background and organizational skills for the delivery of reliable and efficient lab operations for the scientific team at Amgen Research Copenhagen (ARC). The successful candidate will act as a bridge between scientific research needs and technical support. Additionally, they will collaborate with team members in Europe and North America toward the establishment of Lab Operations best practices.
With the goal of lifting non-scientific work from our scientific team, this position requires a service-oriented mind-set with the ability to establish and execute standard lab operations processes, the flexibility to respond to urgent lab and facility issues, and the ability to predict lab needs in advance and develop plans to address them. Furthermore, the successful candidate should be growth-minded, anticipating expanded responsibilities over time in the position.
Responsibilities:
We are looking for a Senior Associate in R&D Lab Operations that can provide operational support to the R&D Laboratories at ARC, including:
- Support R&D laboratories and lab staff to deliver an end-to-end integrated laboratory management strategy
- Assess facility needs and determine appropriate repair
- Manage contractors and oversee facility repairs
- Liaise with Amgen corporate Lab Operations and Facilities Management for complex projects
- Support teams with contract renewals and invoice approvals for lab instrument service & lab consumables
- Perform tactical lab duties:
- Refilling cell tank and NMR with LN2,
- Change out lab gas cylinders,
- Ensure lab consumables inventory is in place and in-lab point of use stations are stocked
- Other duties as assigned
- Support transformative lab projects (i.e. Laboratory Information Systems, Lab Equipment Management Systems, laboratory expansions, etc.)
- Support the development and implementation of new optimizations and environmental & sustainability projects connected with laboratory workflow
- Support teams with dry ice stocking, waste management, and documentation in collaboration with other supporting functions, e.g. local EHSS
- Any other needs the site has to ensure operational continuity and to ensure the lab is “Science Ready”
WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU
We are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients. The qualified professional we seek is a driven individual with these qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Masters Degree, preferably in Life Sciences, Chemistry or related field and preferably pharma-related lab operations
- Fluency in English and Danish, written and oral communication
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Familiarity with R&D activities and analytical instruments in biopharmaceutical industry
- Solid understanding of the R&D Facility and Amgen standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- General understanding of facility operations for administrative and lab environments.
- Experience with Laboratory Management or R&D Operations
- Experience in organizational and administrative tasks in the pharmaceutical industry
- Proficient user of Office Programs such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook
- Evidence of strong data analytics skills
- Flexibility to work on any type of assignment and prioritize accordingly
