What you will do

TEPEZZA is a key growth driver and priority brand for AmgenThe Regional Sales Director (RSD) -will lead the TEPEZZA Endocrinology sales organization for the West region with primary responsibility for regional sales activities and business results. The RSD will oversee district managers (DMs) and specialty account managers(SAMs) and be responsible for achieving/exceeding sales goals by setting the strategic vision for the region aligned to brand strategy and effectively coaching, motivating, hiring and retainingtalentwith a high-level of accountability for delivering results. 

Specific requirements of the role include: 

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results through others in a complex environment, leveraging market & customer knowledge to lead the team – effectively translating and aligning brand strategies with overall team direction and vision 

  • Ability to consistently and objectively recognize and promote success behaviors, as well as diagnose opportunities and develop the team through effective coaching

  • Lead, motivate, and empower a dynamic sales team to exceed targets and drivegrowth.

  • Ability to leverage strong business acumen skillset to identify opportunities as well as complete insightful quarterly business reviews

  • Serve as key interface with senior sales management and marketing 

  • Communicate business issues and opportunities on an ongoing basis to senior management; participating in business updates as well as the formulation of brand strategic plans and vision setting; assist in policy formulation and interpreting policy and programs for direct reports

  • Effectively leverage and partner with Amgen's internal and external resources to help remove barriers impacting team’s success 

  • Set and maintainhigh standards and accountability for results for regional staff and setting a positive tone in terms of work ethic, culture, and business ethics by operating from a positive position of leadership

  • Provide professional staff development and succession planning

  • Conduct annual and on-going performance reviews and competency assessments and implementation of corrective counseling when necessary 

  • Budget management including operational expenses and program funding 

  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with key customers in person and virtually

  • Conduct all business in line with Amgen’s compliance and Business Conduct Standards 

  • Regular travel to locations such as Amgen offices, congresses and customer sites is required

What we expect of you

We are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients. The Regional Sales Director - TEPEZZA professional we seek is a motivated professional with these qualifications.

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree & 4 years of collective account management experience, sales, marketing & commercial experience

Or

Master’s degree & 8 years of collective account management experience, sales marketing, & commercial experience

Or

Bachelor’s degree & 10 years of collective account management experience, sales marketing, & commercial experience

In addition to meeting at least one of the above requirements, you must have at least 4 years experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation or resources. Your managerial experience may run concurrently with the required technical experience referenced above.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred.

  • 5+ years sales leadership experience required with a strong preference for buy and bill environment within relevant therapeutic area(s).

  • 10+ years’ experience in biotech/pharmaceutical sales; buy-and-bill and/or biologic strongly preferred.

  • Outstanding leadership with demonstrated ability to build and effectively manage mid-level managers.

  • Thorough understanding of current pharmaceutical sales regulatory environment.

  • Excellent planning and organization skills.

  • Ability to quickly build effective relationships and navigate the organizational infrastructure.

  • Ability to focus on the big picture without losing focus to details.

  • Employ data and research to support and grow the business.

  • Proven ability to build a strong team, manage teams through change and growth, and maintaining a strong culture.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

  • Professional, proactive demeanor.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
