What You Will Do

Let's do this. Let's change the world.

In this vital role, you will advance our understanding of the genetic and biological mechanisms underlying cardiovascular and cardiometabolic disease through the application of human genetics, functional genomics, and computational biology. Working within Amgen Research, you will leverage large-scale human genetic datasets and emerging genomic technologies to identify novel disease pathways and therapeutic opportunities.

This position is ideal for a highly motivated scientist interested in translating genetic discoveries into biological insights. The successful candidate will work at the intersection of human genetics, data science, and disease biology, integrating diverse genomic and molecular datasets to investigate the functional consequences of genetic variation and uncover mechanisms that influence human health and disease.

The fellow will have the opportunity to collaborate with experts across human genetics, computational biology, cardiovascular biology, and therapeutic discovery, while pursuing innovative and impactful research questions in a highly collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Analyze and integrate large-scale human genetic datasets to identify genes, pathways, and biological mechanisms associated with cardiovascular and cardiometabolic traits.

  • Apply computational and statistical approaches to investigate the functional consequences of genetic variation across diverse populations.

  • Utilize functional genomics, single-cell technologies, and systems biology approaches to understand how genetic variation influences cellular and molecular processes.

  • Integrate multiple layers of genomic and molecular data to prioritize therapeutic hypotheses and uncover disease-relevant regulatory networks.

  • Develop and apply innovative analytical approaches to connect human genetic findings with disease biology.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams spanning genetics, computational biology, molecular biology, and therapeutic discovery.

  • Present research findings at internal and external scientific meetings and publish results in high-impact peer-reviewed journals.

  • Contribute to the broader scientific mission of translating human genetic insights into novel therapeutic strategies.

This is a four-year fellowship within the Amgen Research & Development Postdoctoral Program, designed to provide advanced scientific training and career development opportunities for outstanding early-career researchers.
