Scientist - Target Discovery Platforms - Biology
What you will do
In this vital role, you will join the Predictive Biology team at Amgen British Columbia, driving the advancement of our target discovery platform through state-of-the-art stem cell and organoid biology. We are seeking a scientist with deep expertise in induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) and organoid systems who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and is passionate about translating complex biology into scalable discovery models.
As a key member of the laboratory team, you will:
- Apply your understanding of iPSC differentiation and organoid culture to ensure biological fidelity and reproducibility of complex models running on automated platforms.
- Partner with downstream teams to validate and benchmark these models, linking cellular phenotypes to target biology.
- Refine and expand differentiation protocols to incorporate new tissue types and improve physiological relevance.
- Bring scientific rigor and curiosity to data interpretation, model troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.

Basic Qualifications:
- BS/MS Degree
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Cell or Molecular Biology, Developmental Biology, Pharmacology, or a related discipline, with 3+ years of laboratory experience in academic, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical research.
- Extensive hands-on experience with human iPSCs, including differentiation into relevant lineages and establishment of 3D organoid models.
- Experience working with primary human and patient-derived samples, including tumor organoids, with ability to tailor culture conditions to maintain viability and phenotype.
- Proficiency in adapting iPSC and organoid systems for integration with automated culture platforms, ensuring biological fidelity, stability, and reproducibility under automated operation.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, optimize, and troubleshoot complex cell-based assays, including high-content imaging, immunofluorescence, or luminescence-based functional readouts.
- Strong understanding of cellular physiology and functional biology, with the ability to interpret culture performance and phenotype across diverse disease contexts.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with demonstrated success working across functional teams
- Scientific curiosity, rigor, and problem-solving mindset, with enthusiasm for advancing discovery through innovative, automation-enabled biological model systems.
