Staff Relations Senior Manager - Regional Lead
What you will do

In this vital role you will lead and drive employee relations strategy, ensuring operational excellence, adherence to Amgen’s core values and HR principles and alignment with global policies and practices, while providing culturally and legally appropriate guidance and solutions. The position will oversight, supervise and support a team of Staff Relations Managers providing employee relations coverage for LATAM, United States and Puerto Rico, ensuring consistency, compliance, scalability, performance, and collaboration across geographies.
Staff Relations is a specialized Human Resources function that partners closely with regional HR Leaders, Business Managers, Compliance, Legal, other HR Centers of Excellence and team members to protect Amgen values, investigate potential violations of HR policies, provide practical advice and guidance on coaching staff and managers, and to advise on performance and behaviors management, discipline, involuntary terminations, and workplace accommodations.
- Serve as primary escalation point for business leaders and HR partners on Employee Relations matters, including HR investigations, performance management and discipline in the LATAM region.
- Conduct and/or supervise thorough, impartial, and timely HR investigations, maintaining confidentiality and objectivity throughout. Determine findings of fact and violations of policy and prepare clear, concise investigation summaries and supporting documentation to support these findings.
- Supervise a team of Staff Relations managers responsible for cases in LATAM, the United States and Puerto Rico, and partner with Staff Relations team members in the United States and Puerto Rico to appropriately handle escalations and sensitive matters.
- Monitor, analyze and report on metrics in the region; identify trends based on the data.
- Act as an expert on best practices in the employee relations space, maintaining strong consistency and connectivity with the global Staff Relations team.
- Contribute to and influence the Global Staff Relations community through shared learning and process improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with other teams to deliver training on HR policies, investigations, and respectful workplace behaviors.

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree and 2 years of Staff Relations and/or HR Investigations experience
Or
Master’s degree and 4 years of Staff Relations and/or HR Investigations experience
Or
Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of Staff Relations and/or HR Investigations experience
In addition to meeting at least one of the above requirements, you must have a minimum of 2 years of experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation of resources. Your managerial experience may run concurrently with the required technical experience referenced above.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong Human Resources experience with 6+ years of Employee Relations experience
- Knowledge of employment law and Employee Relations practices in LATAM and the U.S.
- Experience managing or mentoring HR professionals
- Ability to establish and maintain strong partnerships with other HR and business functions
- Experience conducting internal HR investigations and advising on performance management, discipline, and involuntary terminations of employment
- Advanced proficiency in English and Spanish with excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to learn and fairly apply company policy, investigation procedures, and regulatory guidelines within scope of duties
- Experience working across different countries and cultures, with a commitment to educating oneself on cultural norms and varying laws
- Strong judgment, discretion, and professionalism in handling complex and confidential matters.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, Teams/WebEx, Workday, and case management systems such as EthicsPoint.
