Occupational Health Sr. Manager

What you will do

In this vital role you will maintain the health, safety, and productivity of Amgen staff through the provision of high-level clinical care and program leadership. This onsite role delivers direct patient care for workplace injury and illness, medical surveillance at the Amgen Rhode Island clinic and lead health and safety initiatives to enable top safety performance. This role will interface regularly with cross-functional stakeholders including human resources, environment, health and safety, facilities, and engineering. The preferred candidate will possess a comfort level navigating the healthcare environment in a corporate setting and hold a valid registered nurse or nurse practitioner license. Key program areas and responsibilities include:

  • Treatment of workplace injury and illness within clinical license scope
  • Coordinating and management of return-to-work and reasonable accommodations process
  • Case management of work-related injury/illness
  • Performing medical surveillance exams, international travel health consultations; immunizations, and screening tests
  • Acting as a strategic partner and resource within the Environment, Health, and Safety team
  • Championing health promotion and wellbeing initiatives
  • Insuring compliance with State, Federal, OSHA and workers compensation regulations
  • Managing site AED program and supporting site emergency response
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, management, human resources, and security teams
  • Compliance with ethical, legal, professional requirements, and corporate policies and procedures.

What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Occupational Health experience OR
  • Associate’s degree and 10 years of Occupational Health experience OR
  • Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of Occupational Health experience OR
  • Master’s degree and 4 years of Occupational Health experience OR
  • Doctorate degree and 2 years of Occupational Health

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in an occupational health setting
  • Current valid nursing license in Rhode Island
  • Current furnishing and DEA license (for nurse practitioners) in Rhode Island
  • Current CPR/BLS Certification
  • Experience with workers compensation, case management, OSHA regulations, and maintaining OSHA records
  • Experience with audiometry and spirometry
  • Competency with electronic medical records
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to motivate others and work effectively in teams
  • Possess strong clinical skills and ability to rapidly prioritize responsibilities in response to clinical need and staff population. Operate independently
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and safety principles
  • Skill in developing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft office, competency in power point slides
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
