What you will do

Amgen Rhode Island is seeking a dynamic and strategicProcurement Managerto lead and optimize procurement operations, supplier management, and supply chain initiatives. This role requires a balance of leadership, analytical thinking, and cross-functional collaboration to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence in procurement processes.
In this vital role you will oversee procurement activities, develop strategies that align with business goals, and mitigate supply chain risks. This position requires strong leadership skills to manage an impactful team and enhance procurement efficiency through data-driven insights and best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Procurement & Supplier Management
Develop and lead forward-thinking procurement strategies to enhance supply chain efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and supplier reliability while ensuring business continuity.
Establish, manage, and optimize long-term supplier relationships to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
Align procurement initiatives with global sourcing strategies, optimizing category management and standardizing processes across the organization.
Drive supplier performance management, ensuring compliance with quality, cost, and service level expectations.
New Product Introductions & Inventory Management
Develop inventory and procurement strategies to support new product introductions, ensuring efficient material planning and reducing potential waste.
Manage the procurement process for new materials, ensuring alignment with project timelines and operational needs.
Oversee complex material planning, including alternative materials, expiry management, and re-supply strategies to maintain manufacturing efficiency.
Advanced Analytics & Operational Excellence
Use data analytics, predictive modeling, and benchmarking to drive strategic sourcing decisions and optimize procurement planning.
Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and performance dashboards to track procurement efficiency and supplier reliability.
Implement AI-driven or automated procurement solutions to enhance decision-making and operational effectiveness.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance procurement processes, reduce lead times, and optimize inventory levels.
Risk Management & Compliance
Assess procurement risks and implement mitigation strategies to enhance supply chain resilience.
Ensure adherence to cGMP standards, industry regulations, and internal procurement policies.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement contingency plans for potential supply chain disruptions.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Lead and mentor a team of procurement professionals, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Engage with senior leadership to develop procurement roadmaps that align with corporate objectives and industry standard methodologies.
Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, Process Development, and Finance teams to align procurement strategies with business goals.
Influence high-level decision-making by providing insights into market trends, procurement strategies, and supplier performance.

Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED and 10 years of Supply Chain or Operations experience OR
Associate’s Degree and 8 years of Supply Chain or Operations experience OR
Bachelor’s Degree and 4 years of Supply Chain or Operations experience OR
Master’s Degree and 2 years of Supply Chain or Operations experience OR
Doctorate Degree
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Data Analytics, Science, or Engineering.
6+ years of experience in procurement or supply chain management within biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or healthcare industries.
Strong expertise in data analytics, predictive modeling, and supply chain trend analysis.
Proficiency in SAP, Rapid Response, Excel, and AI-driven procurement tools for decision-making.
Ability to analyze market conditions, supplier trends, and cost fluctuations to develop proactive procurement strategies.
Experience leading cross-functional procurement initiatives in global supply chain environments.
Exceptional problem-solving and risk mitigation skills.
Strong ability to communicate complex data insights to executives and influence strategic business decisions.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
