Marketing Excellence Brand Building, Senior Marketing Manager
What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. This vital role will be responsible for elevating the impact of marketing across Amgen globally. You will be helping to lead Brand Planning and the development of standards of excellence for Amgen Brand Management. This role will report into the Brand Building Director of Marketing Excellence and partner heavily with global/local brand teams and external thought-partners. Key areas of focus:
- Brand Building: Develop and optimize standards of excellence across the Amgen Brand Management approach:
- Situation Analysis: Business Analysis, Customer Understanding
- Strategy: Positioning, Market Strategy, Customer Strategy
- Execution & Measurement: Message Development, Campaign Development, Customer Engagement, KPI & Performance Monitoring
- Brand Planning: Optimization of the Brand Planning framework
Responsibilities include:
- Partner with external thought partners and a highly cross-functional team across levels, regions and businesses to develop relevant, actionable standards
- Partner closely with teams to pilot, pressure test and optimize standards
- Help manage leadership forums to help build, optimize and embed key marketing concepts into the organization
- Lead the development and execution of a multi-year Amgen Brand Management Awards program to recognize great marketing and foster best practices sharing. Manage all aspects of the program, including design and governance
- Continuously seek to identify best practices and act as a beacon of change

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree and 2 years of Marketing and/or business experience in a role aligned with a Marketing/Sales commercial organization
Or
Master’s degree and 4 years of Marketing and/or business experience in a role aligned with a Marketing/Sales commercial organization
Or
Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of Marketing and/or business experience in a role aligned with a Marketing/Sales commercial organization
Or
Associate’s Degree and 10 years of Marketing and/or business experience in a role aligned with a Marketing/Sales commercial organization
Or
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Marketing and/or business experience in a role aligned with a Marketing/Sales commercial organization
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of relevant experience or Master’s degree and 5 years of relevant experience
- Strong brand management / marketing competence with experience building and growing brands
- Understanding of behavioral science and experience applying principles to accelerate growth
- Ability to influence without authority up, down and across a global organization
- Stellar verbal and written communication skills
- Track record to manage and deliver on projects to drive business results
- Travel: quarterly visits to agencies/Amgen headquarters
Expert proficiency across the following marketing competencies:
- Build Brand Foundations: identifying ownable opportunities and strategies for the brand based on deep understanding of market dynamics and deep customer understanding
- Make Strategic Choices: synthesizing information to develop meaningful insights that fuel brand strategy
- Deliver Relevant Differentiation: empowering teams to build and manage distinct brands and connecting the dots between messaging, creative and experience to drive impact

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
