Sales Planning Sr. Mgr.

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will partner with leadership to ground the team in establishing and executing business priorities.

The Sales Planning Sr Mgr, is responsible for supporting the sales function within Ophthalmology. This position is responsible for contributing to strategic and tactical development of sales support initiatives for the franchise. This individual will work closely to collaborate on various projects with several cross-functional teams including marketing, training, medical affairs, market access, patient services, site of care, analytics, compliance and other internal home office colleagues.

  • Assess monthly National, Regional and Area sales performance trends and propose strategic selling initiatives, sales force best practices and create franchise wide sales initiatives to improve sales execution and performance.
  • Work with Analytics to collect and compile monthly franchise sales execution and performance reports (segmentation, launch execution, Amgen insights tool and competitive analyses).
  • Lead analysis and application of sales operational needs for the sales force, including coordination with sales management, marketing, and analytics teams to help with field business understanding and strategic execution.
  • Gather, organize and communicate monthly quotas and incentives and sales weekly reports to the Regional Directors.
  • Prepare and summarize key trends and strategic field opportunities to implement all necessary sales tools and programs to optimize field execution and relieve administrative burden.
  • Coordinate and build sales leadership presentations for timely field touchpoints (Monthly and Quarterly updates, National and Regional sales meetings, and internal senior leadership reviews).
  • Develop, implement and execute the franchise sales force communication plan, compiling sales leadership, marketing and commercial operations feedback to create an informative and functional cadence for the field.
  • Lead and manage the process of developing and implementing sales force incentive programs for both on-going and ad hoc incentive programs. Facilitate coordination between sales management, marketing, commercial operations and incentives compensation.
  • Work cross functionally with sales management, marketing, training and various Amgen sales support organizations to create, implement and optimize all necessary field initiatives.

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of commercial experience

Or

Master’s degree and 4 years of commercial experience

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of commercial experience

Or

Associate’s degree and 10 years of commercial experience

Or

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of commercial experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong planning, analytical, leadership, administration and project management skills
  • U.S. Commercial experience required with strong matrix skills and cultural sensitivity to work effectively across Amgen
  • Proven ability to influence and run a complex set of internal and external partners.
  • Strong executive presence and leadership skills.
  • Strong communication and negotiating skills required.
  • Solid understanding of the market, disease states and products.
  • Ability to think strategically and translate ideas into results

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
