What you will do

In this vital role you will enable the use of high-quality real-world data to meet priority evidence generation needs across Amgen’s portfolio, aiding our mission to serve patients around the world.

You will partner with internal stakeholders and industry experts to design, conduct, interpret and publish observational research that informs decision-making from the early development of a molecule to the design of clinical trials and the safety and efficacy of Amgen medicines.

Key responsibilities:

  • Execute and lead descriptive epidemiologic studies to characterize the incidence/prevalence of disease in US, EU, Asia, and emerging market countries
  • Manage research projects involving the analysis of multiple types of data including medical claims, electronic health records and prospective observational cohort studies
  • Conduct literature reviews and prepare research reports and scientific manuscripts
  • Communicate with internal and external partners to manage and implement studies
  • Supply the development and implementation of innovative analytic methods, capabilities, and tools to enable rapid, scalable, and reproducible real-world evidence (RWE)
  • Stay abreast of the latest developments in the field of observational research and drug development
  • Communicate significant scientific information to a variety of audiences

You will be joining the Disease Forecasting team within Amgen's Center for Observational Research (CfOR), a global organization with an industry-leading analytical capability that generates RWE to support business needs across a product’s lifecycle.

What we expect of you

We are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients. What we seek in you as an experienced professional, are these qualifications and skills:

  • Degree educated in Epidemiology or other subject with high observational research content
  • Previous experience in the design, execution, and analysis of observational research studies within Pharmaceutical or Public Health setting
  • Experience working with secondary data systems, including administrative claims, EMR, registries
  • Excellent verbal and writing communication and interpersonal skills
  • Previous work experience in multi-disciplinary teams
