Manufacturing Clinical Supply

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. This 10 – 12 week onsite internship program will be at Amgen’s Thousand Oaks Campus, during the summer of 2025. This program offers meaningful project and operational experiences with the world’s leading biotechnology company. During this program, you will work within the Manufacturing Clinical Supply Organization, Drug Substance or Drug Product Supply.

Amgen invests in tools and systems to transform the agility and productivity of the organization through digitalization and automation.

Within drug substance, the operational readiness team is responsible for providing process and single-use expertise for drug substance manufacturing and supporting new platforms and technologies. The intern will be responsible for an improvement project and be exposed to a dynamic clinical and commercial manufacturing environment.

  • Available to work various shifts (day, swing, graves, weekends, holidays, 5x8hrs, 4x10hrs) as instructed by the production schedule to execute function-testing and project tasks with minimal disruption to operations.
  • Must be able to work in a clean room environment wearing steel toe shoes, full clean room gowning, hairnet and gloves when performing all work while following GMP documents (SOPs) with strict adherence to safety and compliance.

Project may include:

  • Process diagram drafting or improvement
  • Procedural improvement and revision
  • Function testing, including writing protocol and reports
  • Supply mitigations
  • Data visualization
  • You will help bring solutions to production and production leadership using digital tools. You will help the DPS organization Stop, Simplify and Automate business processes. The digital tools would include: Tableau, Smartsheet, Spotfire, and excel.
  • Metric Cascade Alignment
  • Smartsheet Dashboard Alignment and Implementation
  • Automate Manual Entry for Metric Reporting and Raw Material Supply Mitigation
  • Leverage, Improve, and Standardize current Dashboards

Basic Qualifications

Amgen requires that all individuals applying for an undergrad internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:

  • 18 years or older
  • Currently enrolled in a full-time Bachelor’s Degree program from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent
  • Completion of one year of study from an accredited college or university prior to the internship commencing
  • Enrolled in a full-time Bachelor’s degree program following the potential internship or co-op assignment with an accredited college or university
  • Must not be employed at the time the internship starts
  • Student must be located in the United States for the duration of the internship OR co-op

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pursuing a degree in Engineering or Life Sciences
  • Previous experience in biology lab
  • Prior work or volunteering experience
  • Ability to work effectively in cross functional teams
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and collaboration tools (e.g., PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams, Smartsheet, Tableau)
  • Good communication skills and writing skills
  • Analytical thinking
  • Can do attitude. Proactiveness.
  • Project Management Experience

The base pay range for this opportunity in the U.S. is $24.70 - $28.30 per hour.
