What you will do

In this vital role you will become part of a global multidisciplinary group focusing on process and product impact including material attributes, non-conformance investigations and characterization of polymers used in primary drug delivery systems, biological manufacturing process and how they impact both the process performance and product quality.

  • Work in a laboratory setting providing analytical support and expertise structure elucidation of mixtures containing organic and inorganic materials

  • Design and execute experiments using various analytical instruments such as liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LC/MS), gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC/MS), high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP/MS) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)

  • Manage projects, provide regular updates, write protocols and technical reports, and/or communicating program results

  • Collaborate with other scientists and keep current with both the literature and technology associated with the field of expertise

  • Additional opportunities may involve advising supervisors and colleagues in areas of expertise

  • Providing scientific results that support the generation of publications, patents or regulatory submissions and supervising research associates and assistants

What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of Scientific experience OR

  • Master’s degree and 3 years of Scientific experience OR

  • Doctorate degree PhD OR PharmD OR MD [and relevant post-doc where applicable]

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters or Ph.D. in biochemistry, chemistry, chemical engineering or other life science area plus 3 years or more years of proven experience

  • Experience with working in a lab-based environment

  • Experience in using mass spectrometry such as LC/MS, ICP-MS, GC-MS and NMR

  • Experience in material attributes, organic chemistry, protein characterization and identification of impurities in complex drug product matrix

  • Experience with product contact attributes i.e. extractables and leachables from upstream, downstream, fill finish, primary containers and delivery systems.

  • Experience with forensic investigations of abnormal observations throughout product lifecycle and customer complaints

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
