What you will do

In this vital role we are seeking a strategic and dynamic Executive Director of Employee Engagement & Change Communications to lead initiatives that enhance employee engagement and facilitate effective change management across the organization. This role is critical to our success as it ensures alignment between our corporate values, employee experience, and organizational objectives. The Executive Director will lead a team and collaborate with agency partners while serving as a key member of the global Corporate Affairs team.
Key Responsibilities:
Cross-Company Employee Engagement Communications Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive employee engagement strategy that fosters a positive workplace culture, enhances morale, and drives performance.
Internal Channel Strategy & Infrastructure: Oversee the design and execution of effective internal communication channels and modern technology infrastructure to ensure employees are informed, engaged, and aligned with organizational goals.
Leadership Enablement & Communications: Equip leaders with the tools and communications strategies needed to effectively engage their teams and drive business performance and lead through change (“the Sponsorship Spine”).
HR Communications & Employee Value Proposition: Collaborate with HR to develop and communicate the employee value proposition, ensuring clarity around benefits, opportunities, and culture.
Thousand Oaks and Tampa Site Communications & Site Communicators Forum: Lead communications for the Amgen Thousand Oaks (ATO) and Amgen Capability Center (ACC) and facilitate a forum for global site communicators to share best practices and align messaging.
Enterprise Events Team: Establish Enterprise Events team to design and execute events that promote engagement and enhance the employee experience. Acts as a center of excellence to provide tools and resources for internal events across the global organization.
Crisis Management Team & Change Management: Lead the crisis management team to ensure effective communication strategies, processes, and procedures are in place during times of change, maintaining transparency and trust.
Team Leadership: Build and manage a high-performing team of communication professionals, providing mentorship, guidance, and development opportunities.
Agency Partnership Management: Collaborate with external agency partners to execute communication initiatives and ensure alignment with corporate strategy.

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree & 6 years of corporate affairs experience OR
Master’s degree & 10 years of corporate affairs experience OR
Bachelor’s degree & 12 years of corporate affairs experience AND
6 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field; master’s degree preferred
12+ years of experience in employee engagement, internal communications, or change management, with a proven track record in leadership roles
Understanding of HR practices, employee engagement strategies, and change management frameworks
Executive level communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage diverse audiences and influence at all levels of the organization
Experience leading teams and managing agency partnerships, fostering a collaborative and innovative culture
Ability to navigate complex organizational dynamics and develop strategies that align with corporate values and objectives
