Amgen’s Large Molecule Discovery & Research Data Sciences organization is seeking a collaborative Senior Associate to join the Discovery Protein Science (DPS) group at our South San Francisco site. DPS is responsible for designing, planning and executing on the generation of key enabling reagents to support early discovery of small and large molecule therapeutics and ground-breaking modalities. In this vital role you will support Amgen's early drug discovery pipeline
You will be a part of a multidisciplinary team with capabilities in molecular engineering, cloning, expression and purification of proteins, including antibodies, multispecifics and membrane proteins.
The central focus of this role will be supporting our early drug discovery pipeline by generating fit for purpose protein reagents.
The preferred candidate will have broad laboratory training, deep scientific curiosity, and a positive approach to working in a team-based research environment along with a track record of creative problem-solving and enthusiasm for taking on difficult research challenges.

Basic Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Analytical Chemistry or related field.
Or
Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Analytical Chemistry or related field and 2 years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Microbiology skills (E. coli or yeast) or cell culture experience (mammalian or insect)
Hands-on biochemical analytical experience (spectrophotometry, SDS PAGE, Western blot)
Familiarity with chromatography hardware and software (Cytiva AKTA, Agilent HPLC)
Experience in protein purification techniques (including affinity, ion exchange, HIC, SEC)
Strong written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Desire to be a team player in a dynamic, cross-functional environment.
Demonstrated scientific analysis and problem-solving skills.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
