MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Access: Gain & maintain access and reimbursement for inline products to help deliver Amgen’s near-term success, and develop effective access strategies for pipeline products to support the company’s future success. Lead and coordinate planning assumptions for short- and long-term activities for entry strategies.
- Evidence: Develop and execute clinical and health economic evidence generation strategies to demonstrate the value Amgen brings to patients, providers and health systems.
- Policy, Govt. Affairs & Advocacy: Develop & execute healthcare policy, government relations and customer/stakeholder engagement strategies to shape our environment, working as Amgen and via industry associations.
- Pricing & Contracting: Develop & execute innovative pricing and contracting strategies, within governance, to deliver value to customers and secure an appropriate return on our investment.
- Reputation: Build & leverage Amgen’s reputation as a credible, science-based thought leader that makes meaningful contributions to patients, providers, health systems and society.
- Collaboration: Partner effectively with Amgen commercial, medical and functional colleagues to support Amgen’s business and mission.
- Best Team: Develop, empower, coach and lead a talented, results-oriented VA&P team.
REQUIREMENTS:
- + 15 years of related experience with university degree or higher
- Degree in Health Care Management (Policy / Planning / Health Care Financing / Health Economics / Public Affairs) preferred.
- Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, and engage in productive debate and collaboration with senior leaders.
- Excellent communication skills, including interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and succeed in a highly-matrixed environment.
- Strong oral/written presentation skills.
- Strong strategic planning skills—both at the product and country (cross-portfolio) levels.
- Ability to conduct situation analysis of external environment and synthesize relevant information for business strategies and support development of country-specific strategic plans.
- Ability to identify compelling ways to demonstrate and communicate product value to payers.
- Strong understanding of strategic pricing and contracting, including innovative approaches such as risk-sharing deals
- Savvy outlook including deep understanding of government policy, commercial and business issues gained from years of relevant experience
- Understands how to engage and mobilize patient advocacy groups to take appropriate action in support of specific issues, such as access, and to support Amgen and the biopharmaceutical industry overall.
