What you will do

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for national, regional, and local engagement of patient groups related to our pipeline's rare diseases.

  • Be responsible for the co-development and execution of the advocacy strategy, including defining, standardizing, and implementing standard processes for engaging patients, caregivers, communities, and team members.

  • Establish and continuously strengthen advocacy and partnering relationships with national and community organizations through thoughtful engagement and alignment on company priorities.

  • Collaborate with Gov affairs leadership and the access team in the implementation of patient Journey in accordance with the organization pillars

  • Collaborate with external partners to drive strategic collaborations across healthcare team members to raise awareness and broaden understanding of rare diseases. Solicit support to advance the field and capture insights to advise strategic planning and actions.

  • Establish strategic relationships; develop and implement advocacy and alliance plans (nationally, regionally, and locally) to support continued impact. Establish and implement programs that are aligned with Amgen’s Patient Value Strategy.

  • See opportunities and tailor solutions for internal and external projects within a therapeutic area or above brands to optimize patient outcomes (e.g., coalitions).

  • Ensure compliant and transparent team member engagement and embrace company principles to demonstrate dedication to patients and caregivers.

  • Mitigate areas of risk by supervising key issues and trends and develop strategies to protect and improve the company’s reputation.

  • Hold accountability for the annual budget related to patient advocacy initiatives.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree in physician, engineer, administrative or any related and 2 years of experience in the healthcare industry in value & access roles

  • Master’s degree in physician, engineer, administrative or any related and 6 years of experience in the healthcare industry in value & access roles

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of experience in the healthcare industry in value & access roles

  • Associate’s degree and 10 years of experience in the healthcare industry in value & access roles

  • High school diploma / GED 12 years of experience in the healthcare industry in value & access. In addition to meeting at least one of the above requirements, you must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation or resources. Your managerial experience may run concurrently with the required technical experience referenced above.

  • Proficiency in English, both in written and verbal communication.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a pharmaceutical/biotech company, including patient advocacy, government relations, R&D, marketing, market access, or an equivalent amount of experience in a patient, consumer, or professional association.

  • Leading cross-functionally.

  • Effective at leading sophisticated individualized cases.

  • High-level project management and presentation skills.

  • National travel availability required.

  • Strong communication, listening skills and insight skills required
