Associate Director, Incentive Compensation Design & Analytics, Rare Disease BU

What you will do

The US Field Excellence team provides guidance and support to the sales organization by optimizing the field experience through Field Effectiveness, Incentive Compensation, Field Operations, and Field Systems and Capabilities Transformation. This role is instrumental in driving commercial success by leading and advancing sales incentive plan and contest design strategy. The individual will ensure that the incentive compensation plans align with the organization’s strategic objectives, values, and culture while driving the desired behaviors that lead to strong company outcomes.

In this vital role the Associate Director, Incentive Compensation Design and Analytics, Rare Disease Business Unit, leads the design, implementation, and evaluation of the incentive plans and programs for an entire business unit (BU). This individual is responsible for aligning the sales compensation strategy with the business goals, ensuring fair and motivating rewards for the sales team, and analyzing the effectiveness and efficiency of the incentive plans. In addition, the individual is accountable for IC administration and operations delivered through an offshore 3rd party team.

Flexible Commuter role to Deerfield, IL office. You will work on-site 2 to 3 days a week.

This position reports to the Director, Incentive Compensation Design and Analytics and will be responsible for the following:

  • Primary point of contact for senior commercial leaders to engage in the incentive compensation plan and contest design deliverables for the BU

  • Leading and developing the incentive compensation design strategy in collaboration with senior sales and brand leadership while collaborating with cross-functional support from forecasting, analytics, field effectiveness, HR and finance

  • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness and impact of the incentive compensation plans, using data analysis and plan modeling, field feedback, and health check audits, and making adjustments as needed

  • Accountable for coordinating with and overseeing delivery through a 3rd party team for the following: administration and operations of IC plans, contests, annual awards, payout calculations and validation, field inquiries, and IC reporting

  • Identifying opportunities to enhance IC design, analytics, admin and operations processes, and implementing solutions (with cross-functional support) for improvement

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 3 years of sales & marketing operations and/or data analytics experience

Or

Master’s degree and 5 years of sales & marketing operations and/or data analytics experience

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of sales & marketing operations and/or data analytics experience

Or

Associate’s degree and 12 years of sales & marketing operations and/or data analytics experience

Or

High school diploma / GED and 14 years of sales & marketing operations and/or data analytics experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and managing incentive compensation plans

  • 6+ years of sales leadership or sales operations experience in a large and complex organization

  • Functional Leadership: Ability to drive and influence incentive compensation design strategy to delivery sales force results in support of brand strategy

  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of incentive compensation principles, practices, and trends, and the ability to apply them aligned to brand strategy and sales force dynamics

  • Strategic Thinking: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, and the ability to use data and metrics to evaluate and improve the incentive compensation plans

  • Executive Presence: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to influence and collaborate with senior management, cross-functional teams, and external partners

  • Highly Organized: Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities while ensuring precise coordination between onshore and offshore teams operating across a large time difference in order to optimize turnaround times

  • Excellent Communication: Convey information clearly, accurately, and succinctly to a diverse audience

  • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively across various stakeholders to ensure alignment and support for design strategy

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is $132,999.00 to $188,215.00. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
