Tax Senior Manager
What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will the Senior Manager, VAT will provide a wide variety of VAT and GST advice for Amgen entities globally. The Senior Manager will drive and develop a successful global VAT strategy. Key activities include giving advice on VAT and GST implications of new transactions and deals the business is undertaking, leading the response to VAT and GST audits, process improvement and automation, and advising on complex compliance activities. In addition, the Senior Manager will play a key role in providing the upgrade of Amgen’s ERP system and future maintenance. An important part of the role will involve building relationships and working closely with various functions.
Responsibilities
Map VAT processes and design for improvement
Support business growth and advice the business on new transactions and deals
Act as subject matter expert for VAT and GST in the group, being the ‘go-to’ person for queries
Provide VAT and GST advice on various international tax projects, as needed and perform adequate research of VAT and GST issues as they arise and prepare memos to support tax positions.
Work closely with finance & DTI colleagues across different business units and functions to have our SAP system continuously improved.
Monitor indirect tax law changes and provide updates on current and upcoming global legislation
Perform other job-related duties as necessary.
Assist in VAT audit work as required.

Suggests new approaches and innovative ideas to make existing processes and structure more efficient

VAT and GST planning advisory (documented as needed)
Support work in VAT audits
Contribute to VAT automation efforts
Design improved VAT processes
What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree and 2 years of Tax experience OR
Master’s degree and 8 to 10 years of Tax experience OR
Bachelor’s degree and 10 to 14 years of Tax experience OR
Diploma and 14 to 18 years of Tax experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Academic degree or equivalent diploma in Accounting / Finance, Tax Law or Tax Economics
Experience in a VAT advisory role with an emphasis on supply chain/manufacturing within the Big Four accounting firms or within a financial/tax department of a large multi-national company
Experience of EU VAT alongside a solid understanding of cross-border VAT/GST outside of EU is required
Demonstrated capability to learn quickly, being open and flexible to changes, in a multi-national environment
High level of analytical skills and attention to detail
Pro-activeness in approach to problem solving and technical research
Ability to express ideas and simplify complex issues are essential
Strong oral as well as written English communication
Strong interpersonal skills, great teammate, and highly customer focused
Strong digital literacy with emphasis on SAP
Experience in VAT within an international tax department
Experience in Pharmaceutical Industry
Master degree in Business Taxation or equivalent
High level in local language or any other major language
