Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. This internship will be approximately 12 weeks that includes both project- based and experiential learning. In conjunction with the project work, you will have the opportunity for professional development through training sessions, one-on-one mentoring, and various networking events.

Be part of Amgen's newest and most advanced drug substance manufacturing plant. When completed, the Amgen North Carolina FleX Batch facility will combine the latest in disposable technologies with traditional stainless-steel equipment to allow for maximum flexibility in operations. The FleX Batch facility will not only feature the best in-class drug substance manufacturing technologies with embedded industry 4.0 capabilities, but it will also integrate sustainability innovations to reduce carbon and waste, as part of Amgen's plan to be a carbon-neutral company by 2027.

Operations is one of three foundational functions at Amgen with a mission to manufacture and deliver safe and effective medicine to patients around the world. The sub-function where you will work is Environmental Health, Safety, and Sustainability (EHSS).

We are currently seeking highly motivated, hardworking individuals who will lead initiatives, strategic analysis, and business case development on projects across the Operations functions present at Amgen North Carolina. During this program, you will focus on making effective recommendations to the organization’s senior leadership.

Additional responsibilities include: 

• Work with an EHSS Manager to undertake projects directed at specific topics such as ergonomics, chemical safety, and industrial hygiene.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams ranging from manufacturing, laboratory, and facilities to provide EHSS support for day-to-day operations, conduct safety walkthroughs, conduct risk assessments including, job hazard assessments, ergonomic evaluations, and qualitative exposure assessments.

Basic Qualifications

Amgen requires that all individuals applying for an undergrad internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:

• 18 years or older
• Currently enrolled in a full-time Bachelor’s Degree program from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent
• Completion of one year of study from an accredited college or university prior to the internship commencing
• Enrolled in a full-time Bachelor’s degree program following the potential internship or co-op assignment with an accredited college or university
• Must not be employed at the time the internship starts
• Student must be located in the United States for the duration of the internship OR co-op

Preferred Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field
• Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory standards
• Prior experience or coursework in EHSS or related disciplines
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

The base pay range for this opportunity in the U.S. is $24.70 - $28.30.
