Field Training Manager, Hematology

This position is a US-based field role with responsibility for leading the training activities for salespeople new to selling the Amgen hematology portfolio and those who are established on the team. It reports directly to the Sales Training Director, supporting the US Oncology Business Unit. The Field Training Manager will have responsibility for training OBU Topaz Team sales representatives. They will collaborate with the Regional Sales Director to identify training needs, access and/or create learning solutions and implement them.

This role will involve establishing strong cross-functional relationships with sales, marketing and training leaders in the Thousand Oaks headquarters to develop field-based content that ensures alignment of key sales objectives and related strategies in the field. The Field Training Manager will be responsible for working with the RSD, their leadership team, and the Sales Training Director to develop and implement training workshops. The Field Training Manager will also contribute to the development of semester meeting content and will facilitate training-related workshops at semester meetings. They will lead Phase 1 preparation and Phase 2 training classes in Thousand Oaks (or virtually, depending on working conditions) for new sales representatives.

The successful candidate will work with their Regional Sales Director to understand the annual sales objectives and translate those into a training and coaching plan that will improve behavioral, performance, and sales outcomes. The Field Training Manager will learn and incorporate adult learning techniques/principles to develop innovative approaches and training content for field implementation.

This position is an individual contributor role with sales training responsibilities focused on the hematology portfolio. The Field Training Manager will establish partnerships with the brand team and sales leaders for the products they support, along with other cross-functional team members and leaders, other internal training managers and remote field training managers.

  • Plan, coordinate and implement new-hire sales training (Phases 1-3) and ongoing clinical, eye for business and selling skills training for assigned Oncology Business Unit (OBU) products. Establish metrics and assessments to measure performance.
  • Translate national brand plans and tactics into training curricula/content for new-hire training and for semester sales meetings.
  • Develop and facilitate workshops with brand teams at semester meetings for assigned brands.
  • Assist in the development and updating of training modules, training assessments and role-play scenarios.
  • Facilitate the Medical, Legal and Regulatory review of new-hire training materials and maintain approvals of these materials.
  • Prepare, manage and facilitate new-hire training classes in coordination with Sales leadership, brand teams, internal presenters and guest trainers.
  • Manage District Sales Trainer (DST) program. Maintain guest-trainer schedule.
  • Provide learner feedback to sales management with recommendations for follow-up coaching.
  • Work closely with oncology brand team to ensure learning initiatives align with brand priorities.

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree

OR

Master's degree and 2 years of sales/marketing/training experience

OR

Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of sales/marketing/training experience

OR

Associate's Degree and 10 years of sales/marketing/training experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of sales/marketing/training experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of training, sales and/or marketing experience within pharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare, or medical device industries.
  • 3+ years working closely with sales, marketing, compliance, healthcare company or related industry experience
  • Experience defining training goals and objectives with key internal clients
  • Strong facilitation skills using multiple mediums
  • Experience working with sales team, regulatory, legal, compliance, vendor management as client or functional unit lead
  • Experience in engaging with multiple collaborators to deliver results for multiple priorities
  • Strong clinical competence to model and shape curriculum and staff
  • Demonstrated self-starter, ability to work under limited supervision and coordinate multiple projects and teams in a meticulous environment
  • Strong eye for business using Veeva data systems
  • Strong Communication skills (Coaching and selling skills)
  • Understanding of Access & Reimbursement environment

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
