In this backfill role you, as a member of the facilities team, you will work hand in hand with the IFM provider to ensure facilities and services are maintained to a high standard.

  • Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Facilities Manager will assist in providing direction to a team supporting this facility.
  • Establish clear expectations and priorities to staff. Encourage a culture of continuous improvement, partnership, and knowledge sharing. Provide development opportunities, feedback, and actively listen to staff.
  • Cultivate a culture of safety ensuring the well-being of all staff members and drive efforts to reduce safety risks.
  • Provide technical support to troubleshoot, identify and resolve process and system issues as needed.
  • Effectively collaborate with key customers and support groups (e.g. IFM provider, Maintenance, Utilities, Manufacturing, Quality, Process Development and network partners).
  • Ensure all tasks and projects are accomplished in a safe manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • System Owner responsibilities for facility infrastructure systems
  • Shared responsibilities and oversight of the Integrated Facilities Management program including Hard Services and Soft Services includiing catering-
  • Ensure Safe Systems of Work are issued and adhered to for all activities. Accountable & main point of contact for Health and safety for IFM provider. Liaise with IFM Health and Safety Professional to ensure IFM are adhering to Amgen Safety procedures and cultures.   
  • Support day-to-day logistics and overall coordination within the department and with project team. Attendance to whiteboard meetings, support and communicate with the team
  • Space Planning Lead for the site
    • Owner of the strategy and oversight of the space planning program for the site.
    • Owner of decommissioned areas of the plant
    • Assign working spaces
    • Liaison with ISS to ensure capacity with lockers
    • Manage the issuing of NGO lockers to staff
    • Capacity monitoring and modelling for offices and storage areas
  • Oversight of the GMP inspections and Zone inspection programs. 
  • Collaborate with integrated facilities management team and craft groups to schedule maintenance activities as required to support site operations.
  • Manage and oversee service providers, and specialist consultants that services the facility including assisting with the logistics including inductions, onsite supervision and reviewing of work completed. 
  • Ensure GMP requirements and compliance is maintained as per site procedures; any deviations are reported and investigated as required
  • Develop and report key performance indicators, KPIs, for external suppliers and service providers. 
  • Actively communicates across functions and sites and is a strong collaborator with all the functional groups at site.


Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 3-5 years' experience in a similar Facilities Management role in a GMP environment
  • Strong management/supervisory experience across multiple teams/ departments with direct reports. 

Preferred Qualifications:         

  • BSc in science, engineering or equivalent with additionally qualifications (Masters /PhD).
  • Strong problem-solving technical skills.
  • Experience in pharma industry with significant understanding and knowledge of cGMPs.
  • Experience with Maximo
  • Excellent oral and written communication, facilitation, organizational and planning skills
  • Proactive, self-starter with the ability to take on several projects at one time

  • Ability to learn and act on dynamic information at a rapid pace.
