Director Supply Chain - Amgen Dun Laoghaire - Dublin

The Director of Supply Chain will be responsible for leading the ADL Supply Chain function with accountability for site product planning, short term and finite scheduling, procurement, master data, capacity planning, internal and external warehousing.  This role also has oversight of ADL’s Supply Management systems and the site level IBP processes.  The role will report into the Site Leader.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads Supply Chain with a Safety first mindset and is functional sponsor of the SAT process.
  • Develops a culture of DI&B within Supply Chain where the team can thrive now and in the future through teamwork, connection, accountability and commitment on site.
  • Provides direction, sets high expectations and measures teams’ performance in delivering best in class supply chain process and services to customers such as ADL site, our customers and Global Supply Chain.
  • Routinely reports progress against goals, strategy and key performance metrics, both on site and within the Global Supply Chain network.
  • Leads the function to have a continuous improvement mindset to deliver site volumes productively.
  • Ensures adequate resources, equipment, personnel, training and facilities are provided to the function.
  • Oversees ADL’s Supply Management systems and supports the IBP facilitator.
  • Manages the functional cost centre budgets and the outsourced contracts and relationships such as VMI provider and site 3PL.  Monitors actual performance, taking corrective actions where necessary.
  • Acts as a key contributor in the xDP Global Network to drive innovation and best in class supply chain and warehousing processes.
  • As part of the site SLT, participates in the development and execution of the site strategy
  • Leads the site manufacturing strategic review process post the annual Amgen LRS process to develop recommendations to Senior Leadership in conjunction with key Network partners.
  • Monitor the ADL On-Time-In-Full shipping performance to customers, ensuring ‘every patient every time’.
  • Responsible for reducing the risk of excess, expired, and obsolete raw material inventory.
  • Regular contact and interface with Global Strategic Sourcing in relation to direct materials and spend, ensuring that raw materials and components are procured to support ADL production volumes.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external customers, relevant agencies and other stakeholders.
  • Develop the best team by coaching and mentoring to develop their supply chain competencies and leadership skills.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Hold a 3rd level Degree or equivalent.
  • Have substantial experience in similar managerial position or significant experience in a Pharmaceutical supply chain department.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead/influence others.
  • 10+ years’ experience and/or training in a GMP regulated industry
  • In-depth knowledge of best practices in a defined area of expertise. Detailed knowledge of most areas of the company’s business and functional groups. Understanding of relevant industry issues.
  • Working knowledge of materials and manufacturing, warehousing, supply chain management.
  • Strong knowledge in inventory management and planning systems. Working knowledge of ERP systems.
  • Proven effectiveness in managing a team, as well as communicating and collaboration cross functions and with staff at all levels.
  • Team-oriented (proactively builds healthy working relationships between their team/function and other groups).
  • Strong leadership skills and excellent written and oral communication/presentation skills.
  • Strong manufacturing process knowledge and analytical skills to solve complex problems.
  • Possesses an in-depth understanding of inventory planning and control processes, as well as Warehouse Operations.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to lead effectively in a highly matrixed organization
  • Broad knowledge of other operations areas such as Manufacturing, Quality, Process Development, Procurement, Finance, and Regulatory.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
