Graduate Co-op - Operations - Drug Substance Pilot Plant

What You Will Do

As a Graduate Co-op at Amgen, you'll have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in your chosen field, contribute to projects, and network with professionals in the industry. You'll assist in various tasks and projects, developing your skills and gaining a deeper understanding of your field.

We are seeking a hardworking individual to join the Biologics Drug Substance organization. This Co-op will be approximately 24 weeks and include both project-based and experiential learning. Amgen provides a state-of-the-art workspace and promotes collaboration with senior leadership through a series of formal and informal events. Co-ops will be encouraged to spend time participating in activities and networking with staff across the organization.

As a graduate Co-op, you will apply coursework concepts to real-world situations working alongside and guided by industry professionals while gaining valuable experience working for a world-class global biomanufacturing company. You will become part of the Pilot Plant / Drug Substance Network – Amgen’s Center of Excellence for advancing new technologies – and will be mentored by senior staff members.

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. During this full-time, 6-month program (January – June/July 2025), you will have the opportunity to work closely with a multi-disciplinary team in our state-of-the-art Mammalian Cell Culture and Purification lab. Some of the projects you may work on include:

  • Developing and refining digital capabilities including methods for standardizing real-time data collection and visualization utilizing both cloud-based architecture
  • Data analysis and modeling for experimental runs in our lab and across the network
  • Integrating Process Analytical Tool (PAT) results for tech transfer
  • Optimizing organizational tools and digital systems to streamline data flow and team communication
  • Characterization of new and existing equipment, identifying boundary limits and critical parameters
  • Developing simple business processes to manage facets of a complex organization

What We Expect of You

Basic Qualifications:

Amgen requires that all individuals applying for a grad Internship or a Co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:

  • 18 years or older
  • Graduated with a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Currently enrolled in an MBA program for an MBA internship OR a Master’s program for a Master’s internship OR a PharmD program for a PharmD internship OR Ph.D. for a PhD internship from an accredited college or university and completion of the first year of MBA OR Master’s OR Pharm D OR Ph.D. program before the internship starts
  • Enrolled in an accredited college or university following the potential internship or Co-op assignment
  • Must not be employed at the time the Co-op starts
  • Student must be located in the United States for the duration of the Co-op

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in coding, especially with Python
  • Biotechnology/Life Sciences/Engineering track graduate program
  • Demonstrated an integrated focus on data analysis/regression/machine learning and biological topics

The base pay range for this opportunity in the U.S. is $30.00 - $40.00 an hour.
