What you will do

Reporting to Senior Director of Corporate Affairs Japan & Asia Pacific (in region) and South East Asia, Hong Kong and India (SEA), this role is responsible for working closely with cross-functional brand teams and other key stakeholders across the region to support the building of a corporate presence internally and externally.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and enhance the reputation of Amgen in South East Asia through strategic relationships with key external stakeholders, including key media contacts and KOLS

  • Develop and execute high-impact, integrated (traditional, digital and social) communications strategy to support therapeutic areas, brand and business enterprise initiatives

  • Drive disease state educational campaigns to heighten therapeutic-area knowledge understand and awareness among patient groups and the general public

  • Support affiliate leadership on messaging development and communications tactics for staff engagement and culture building initiatives such as townhalls, annual Kick-Off meeting

  • Enhance external reputation around key themes relating to global Environment, Social and Governance strategy and Diversity Inclusion and Belonging related efforts.

  • Work cross-functionally with teams in affiliates across SEA on a wide range of day-to-day communications needs to support corporate and commercial activities

  • Support key executives as company spokespeople at external presentations, media interviews and manage potential issues / crisis.

Accountabilities:

  • Ensure all internal and external communications materials developed meet local and global governance, code of conduct and follow relevant approval process

  • Manage foundational PR assets including media lists, coverage and ongoing reports, etc.

  • Foster good relations with media contacts, pitching and securing media opportunities, and measuring impact of media activities

  • Manage affiliate internal (Viva Engage, MSTeams etc) and external (website, social media) communications channels with respect to editorial and compliance requirements

  • Manage contracted third party vendors to deliver against objectives, budget and strict adherence to compliance/approval requirements.

What we expect of you

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in public relations, communications or journalism or the equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Preferably of eight years of Public Relations / Corporate Communications related experience, ideally gained in biotechnology, pharmaceutical or healthcare product public relations including agency and/or corporate

  • Excellent media relationships and contacts in SEA and the region

  • Fluency in English with excellent written and verbal skills

  • Experience of working in a cross functional group within a complex matrix environment, including developing close working relationships with international colleagues

  • Ideally experienced in issue and crisis management

Competencies:

  • Proactive enthusiastic self starter with high energy and motivation as well as serious commitment to hard work and excellence

  • Showcase comfort and flexibility pivoting based on new information, as well as issues management

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues within Corporate Affairs including Advocacy and other functions such as Medical Affairs, Legal, Regulatory, VAP, Government Affairs, Commercial and Human Resources.

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and work independently, with excellent organizational and management skills, planning, prioritization, meeting management and plan execution

  • Excellent analytical skills, science based with strong learning ability, balanced with commercial awareness and ability to use communication to achieve commercial objectives

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and collaborative team player with good cross-cultural adaptability, self awareness, emotionally intelligence with ambition to grow and learn

  • Serves as a role model for Amgen Values and resource to others in promoting open, honest and cooperative relationship
