In this vital role Under the direction of the Director, Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHSS), the successful candidate will have responsibility for supporting various requirements outlined in site EHSS programs. This entry-level role will build responsibilities across the safety and environmental compliance disciplines.

As a core member of the site EHS team, the candidate will be expected to interact frequently with internal clients, be action oriented, and be directly engaged in the operations of the facility. Candidate will also have responsibility to manage and monitor aspects of facility safety and environmental compliance programs at the site level and manage competing priorities on a routine basis.

  • Assist in the interpretation of EHS regulations to ensure compliance with Corporate, Federal, State and local requirements;

  • Implement and improve environmental compliance plans for programs such as air quality, storm water, wastewater treatment, hazardous waste management, pollution prevention, or solid waste management;

  • Perform EHS inspections throughout the facility (lab, manufacturing, construction);

  • Conduct internal reviews and audits to ensure that safety and environmental procedures are being followed.

  • Perform job hazard analysis and support Industrial hygiene, ergonomic, and other safety assessments as needed.

  • Participate in emergency response activities and be a member of the emergency on call team on a rotating basis.

  • Conduct and coordinate formal and informal EHS training for staff and contractors.

  • Support EHS reviews of new material acquisitions.

  • Maintain appropriate records and documentation.

  • Act as an EHS representative for internal client organizations.

  • Assist in Accident/Incident investigations and Root Cause Analysis.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma / GED and 6 years of EHSS or Corporate Services experience OR

  • Associate’s degree and 4 years of EHSS or Corporate Services experience OR

  • Bachelor’s degree

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS degree in environmental, safety, technical, scientific or engineering fields.

  • 2 + years of experience developing/supporting EHS programs within industry.

  • Previous experience working within the biotechnology sector, preferably in a cGMP environment.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
