Associate Director, Strategic Capability Enablement Lead
What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. We are seeking an individual who thrives in ambiguity, capable of driving end-to-end capability development with speed and precision. In this vital role, you will serve as the Strategic Capability Enablement Lead. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining the overall procurement capability framework and associated definitions, scope, and processes. This role will ensure alignment with organizational objectives and drive the strategic development of procurement capabilities to support Amgen’s mission and goals.
Reporting directly to the Procurement Strategic Capability Center Lead, you will consolidate and own the overall roadmap for strategic capabilities development, ensuring that initiatives are prioritized and driven effectively to deliver value. The role will also compile and refresh annual benchmarking at the capability level to support future state planning and strategy development in collaboration with the functional strategy lead.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain the procurement capability framework, including definitions, scope, and associated processes.
- Consolidate and manage the overall roadmap for strategic capabilities development, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
- Conduct and refresh annual benchmarking at the capability level to inform future state planning and strategy development.
- Collaborate with the functional strategy lead to align capability development with the multi-year functional strategic roadmap.
- Drive initiatives focused on people, process, technology, and analytics capabilities to improve procurement efficiency and effectiveness.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities within procurement activities to drive efficiencies and value realization.

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree and 3 years of experience in procurement strategic planning, capability development, and/or related field
Or
Master’s degree and 7 years of experience in procurement strategic planning, capability development, and/or related field
Or
Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of experience in procurement strategic planning, capability development, and/or related field
Or
Associate’s degree and 12 years of experience in procurement strategic planning, capability development, and/or related field
Or
High school diploma / GED and 14 years of experience in procurement strategic planning, capability development, and/or related field
In addition to meeting at least one of the above requirements, you must have a minimum of 3 years experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation or resources. Your managerial experience may run concurrently with the required technical experience referenced above
Preferred Qualifications:
- A strong focus on driving critical initiatives and cross-functional collaboration
- Experience in procurement strategy, capability development, or a related field.
- Strong ability to develop frameworks, roadmaps, and processes that align with organizational objectives.
- Expertise in benchmarking, strategy planning, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication and partner management skills to drive alignment and implementation of critical initiatives.
- Analytical approach with a focus on continuous improvement and value delivery.
- Experience with analytical tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc.)
- Experience with Global Procurement e-Sourcing (Ariba, Coupa, Jaggaer, iValua, etc.) and CLM Tools (e.g., Workday Strategic Sourcing, Sirion Labs)

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
