Associate Director, Global Content Management Strategy

What you will do

In this vital role you will lead the enterprise-wide strategy, governance, and execution of content organization, discoverability, and accessibility, with direct influence across multiple departments and markets. This leader will align operational plans with corporate strategy, manage a hard-working team, and partner across global commercial capabilities, brand, medical, corporate affairs, and digital functions to elevate how content is tagged, stored, and accessed across the organization.

This position will be accountable for the standards and systems that power global content metadata, ensuring strategic alignment, compliance with pharmaceutical regulations, and optimization through innovation, data, and technology. The role also leads the governance of the Digital Asset Management (DAM) platform and directly impacts content scalability across business units and regions.

Scope & Strategic Influence

  • Lead cross-departmental content governance, budgeting, and resource planning for content management operations across therapeutic areas and markets.
  • Align content management strategy with broader organizational, commercial, and medical goals, including digital transformation and customer-centric engagement.
  • Influence and guide critical initiatives through operational planning and change management, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and regulatory compliance.

Governance & Content Systems Leadership

  • Establish and maintain content standards, metadata schema, and tagging frameworks that scale across the enterprise.
  • Serve as the primary business owner for Content Management DAM platform governance, optimization, and improvements; working in collaboration with IT, compliance, regulatory, insights and analytics, and vendor partners.
  • Partner with regulatory to ensure integration with Medical Legal Regulatory review and approval system.
  • Partner with regulatory, legal, and privacy teams to ensure all content systems align with promotional review standards, and accessibility regulations.

Team Leadership & Talent Development

  • Lead a global team that includes a Senior Manager of Content Management (with oversight of three DAM Administrators) and a Data Analyst aligned to content analytics and taxonomy.
  • Provide leadership and mentor to management-level direct reports, contributing to succession planning and long-term capability development.
  • Independently determine strategic priorities and timelines, ensuring all team deliverables are aligned with evolving business needs.

Operational Excellence & Analytics

  • Translate business needs into content governance practices and platform configurations that drive efficiency, accessibility, and personalization at scale.
  • Provide content management advisory guidance for Content Strategists on how best to demonstrate centrally organized content.
  • Leverage content usage data and performance metrics to guide prioritization, resourcing, and content optimization efforts.
  • Collaborate closely with the Insights & Analytics team to provide executive-level readouts and inform enterprise content KPIs.

Enterprise Collaboration

  • Actively partner with Content Strategists and leaders across brands, markets, and enabling functions to drive integrated content strategies.
  • Build and nurture relationships across global teams to ensure shared standards, knowledge transfer, and effective content reuse.
  • Participate in strategic and technical forums, providing thought leadership on content accessibility, taxonomy, and digital enablement.

What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 3 years of content management or digital operations experience

OR

Master’s degree and 5 years of content management or digital operations experience

OR

Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of content management or digital operations experience

OR

Associate’s degree and 12 years of content management or digital operations experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 14 years of content management or digital operations experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in enterprise DAM platforms (e.g., Adobe Experience Manager, Veeva Vault PromoMats/MedComms, Aprimo).
  • Proven experience with global metadata and taxonomy development, accessibility best practices, and structured content strategies.
  • Current or prior work experience pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences industry
  • Outstanding communicator and cross-functional collaborator, capable of influencing executive partners and aligning diverse teams. Enthusiasm for staying informed about emerging trends in content production and management capabilities to ensure strategies remain innovative and competitive.
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities, with experience balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey insights and strategies clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical partners.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
