What you will do
Amgen has built a next generation biologics facility in Singapore as part of its global expansion strategy. We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified and experienced individual to assume the role of Manufacturing Manager (New Products & Technology). This position is primarily responsible for leading a team to introduce new product/technology, manage manufacturing related projects, support productivity/continuous improvement initiatives as well as engage management to develop, manage and ensure adherence to department financial budgets. It offers a broad exposure to all key aspects of GMP manufacturing as well as tactical and strategic teamwork within the extended worldwide manufacturing network.
Responsibilities:
- Directly manage a team of New Products & Technology (NPT) Specialists responsible for introduction of new products and/or advanced technologies into the plant. Includes hiring, training, oversight, performance evaluations, and development.
- Coach, mentor and/or cross train staff within core technical areas. Drive forward employee engagement activities to differentiate site/company as a great place to work
Core technical areas include:
- New Product Introduction
- Responsible for leading manufacturing to support site/facility fit assessments for new molecules/product introduction
- Responsible for leading the cross-functional teams in NPI covering the core pillars of raw materials, equipment and operational readiness
- Responsible for identifying and driving improvements in NPI workflow, including digital solutions to improve the efficiency of NPI execution
- Utilization of digital tools to develop and maintain the NPI dashboard and its associated templates to provide a one-stop overview of NPI progress and readiness
- Serve as NPI Lead (as needed) in ensuring Manufacturing/Supply Chain/Engineering/Automation//EHS readiness during New Product Introduction
- Direct production interruption investigation and serve as escalation point for resolving equipment process related issues for NPIs
- Represent ASM in Digital Tech Transfer (DTT) initiatives
- Manage and serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) during regulatory inspections for NPI related change controls, deviations/investigations, corrective/preventative actions
- New Equipment / Technology Introduction
- Lead site and network projects impacting manufacturing (as needed)
- Serve as ASM Manufacturing point of contact and actively engage networks, other Amgen sites and technology providers to identify potential advancement in technologies
- Support development of business cases/feasibility assessments for new equipment/technology introduction and digital manufacturing initiatives
- Develop strategies, identify and prioritize digitalization opportunities for Manufacturing to advance innovative capabilities
- Productivity/Continuous Improvements
- Escalate and address risks and opportunities found in manufacturing facilities, equipment, processes, and procedures
- Lead continuous improvement/productivity initiatives when needed (including change control ownership for improvement projects) to increase production agility
- Identify and/or implement transformational changes to current business processes/systems, specifically related to rapid NPI, high run rate production (run rate assessment) as well as planning and scheduling optimization
- Work with cross functional teams to value stream, identify bottlenecks and eliminate waste
- Establish multi-years plan for productivity projects to achieve savings and drive Operational Excellence (OE) culture within Manufacturing (as needed)
- Finance
- Responsible for manufacturing budget development, management/ review and support manufacturing management on requests related to finance

What we expect of you
Qualifications
- Doctorate degree in Engineering/Science OR
- Master’s degree in Engineering/Science and 2 years of directly related experience OR
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Science and 4 years of directly related experience OR
- Diploma and 8 years of directly related experience
- Technical knowledge of biopharmaceutical upstream, downstream processing and single use systems
- Demonstrated ability to lead/work well with teams, work under minimal direction and open to changes and new ideas
- Strong communication skills - ability to lead meetings and communicate effectively complex technical information with internal and external colleagues of varying organizational levels in both presentation and technical writing
- Strong analytical and critical thinking capability – ability to respond to changing business needs and operational requirements, gather required data, evaluate options, and communicate analysis recommendations to facilitate decision making
- Ability to create and standardize business/work processes
- Ability to resolve issues and influence across different functions
- Ability to coach, train and develop Manufacturing Associate/Specialist
- Strong leadership skills, decision-making, problem-solving abilities
- Knowledge of tools and systems (MS Project, MS Excel, SAP, PI-Vision, Smartsheet, Spotfire, AI)
- Practical experience and interest in exploring the use of digital technologies to transform business processes and operations
- 1 to 3+ years of supervisory experience preferred
