Senior Maintenance Technician – Utilities (HVAC)
What you will do

In this vital role you will report to the Night Shift Utilities Manager and be responsible for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing critical utility systems that support manufacturing, process development, and quality operations across the ARI facility.
In this role, you will be expected to work a 12-hour shift (7PM-7AM) on a rotating schedule. This includes extra benefits such as receiving an added 15% shift differential, and also getting premium pay for any Sundays worked. The schedule during the initial on-boarding phase for this role (2-6 weeks) will be administrative (Monday through Friday, approximately 8am to 5pm).
Key Responsibilities
Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair complex utility systems and associated equipment that support manufacturing and laboratory operations.
Maintain critical plant utilities including:
Purified Water
Water for Injection (WFI)
Clean Steam
Clean Compressed Air
Plant Steam
HVAC systems
Chilled water systems
Process cooling tower water
Wastewater treatment systems
Heating hot water
Domestic hot and cold water systems
Bulk storage and laboratory gas systems
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities including:
Equipment inspections and testing
Minor and major equipment overhauls
Pump rebuilds and replacements
Valve rebuilds and replacements
HVAC troubleshooting and repair
Piping modifications and repairs
Maintain and service equipment such as:
Industrial Air Handling Units (AHUs)
−30°C freezers
2°C chillers
Air compressors
WFI stills
Clean steam generators
Boilers
Chillers
Cooling towers
Ensure all work is performed in accordance with:
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)
Local, state, and federal regulatory requirements
Execute maintenance activities safely using site safety programs including:
Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
Confined Space Entry
Fall Protection
Hot Work
Electrical Energized Work (EEW)
Contractor Safety programs
Drive Right-First-Time execution and ensure quality completion of maintenance tasks.
Communicate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
Identify operational inefficiencies, workflow interruptions, and improvement opportunities and support implementation of solutions.
Participate in training and skill development to enhance team capability and performance.
Provide operational support outside normal working hours when required, including nights, weekends, or holidays.

Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma / GED and 2 years of utilities operations and/or maintenance work or military experience
Associate degree and 6 months of utilities operations and/or maintenance work or military experience
Preferred Qualifications
Rhode Island Refrigeration Journeyperson – Class 1 License
Strong computer proficiency
5+ years of combined experience in utility, HVAC, and refrigeration systems maintenance, including sanitary/clean utilities
Experience with pneumatic, mechanical, and hydraulic systems
Knowledge and experience in:
Rigging
Welding
Plumbing
Pipefitting
Experience working in highly regulated environments (cGMP)
Experience using Maximo CMMS for maintenance work order execution and documentation
Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS), Building Management Systems (BMS), and SCADA
Ability to read and interpret:
Mechanical drawings
Electrical schematics
Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
Technical specifications
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong communication skills with the ability to provide timely updates on work status
Ability to collaborate effectively across teams

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
