Specialist IS Engineer – Citrix Virtualization Engineer
What you will do

Amgen is seeking a Citrix Virtualization Engineer to manage, optimize, and support our Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops environments across global enterprise infrastructure. The ideal candidate will bring deep hands-on expertise in Citrix, combined with knowledge of Windows Server environments, Active Directory, and virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V.
This role is responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and security of Citrix solutions that support Amgen’s mission-critical applications and end-user platforms. It involves close collaboration with infrastructure teams, technical leads, and global support teams to deliver highly available and secure virtual desktop solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and manage Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops infrastructure, ensuring performance, availability, and compliance.
- Maintain the health and resiliency of Citrix environments, including Citrix Cloud and Citrix ADC (NetScaler).
- Perform patching, updates, and system upgrades in line with enterprise change management policies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues involving Citrix, user sessions, and backend integration.
- Serve as the technical escalation point for Citrix-related issues within IT operations.
- Document all configurations, SOPs, and architecture decisions to support audits and operational continuity.
- Collaborate with project and security teams to support deployments, audits, and lifecycle initiatives.
- Mentor support teams and transfer knowledge to ensure consistent support coverage.
- Monitor system alerts, identify systemic issues, and implement long-term corrective actions.

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree
OR
Master’s degree and 2 years of Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
OR
Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
OR
Associate’s degree and 8 years of Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
OR
High school diploma / GED and 10 years of Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
Preferred Qualifications:
- 6-10 years of experience managing and supporting Citrix environments.
- Experience with Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, Citrix ADC (NetScaler), Citrix Cloud administration and architecture.
- Proficiency with Windows Server, Active Directory, and Group Policy.
- Familiarity with virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex virtualization and connectivity issues.
- Experience implementing patch management, monitoring, and resiliency testing.
- Familiarity with security best practices for virtual environments.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills, especially in a global team structure.
- Passion for continuous improvement, automation, and operational excellence.
- Experience collaborating in regulated or GxP-compliant environments (preferred).
Certifications (Preferred):
- Citrix Certified Professional – Virtualization (CCP-V).
- Citrix Certified Professional – Networking (CCP-N).
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server or Azure Administrator.
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP).
Soft Skills:
- Strong collaboration and stakeholder communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
- Willingness to mentor others and build team capability.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
