In this vital role the Senior Manager, Field Access Specialists (FAS) is a member of the Patient Access & Reimbursement (PAR) Channel Team with responsibility for the strategic and operational leadership of the FAS function for the Inflammation portfolio (Dermatology, Rheumatology, and Primary Care).  This includes direct oversight of third-party vendor partners supporting field and virtual reimbursement activities and oversight of Office Practice Manager (OPM) Speaker Bureaus. 

Key Responsibilities

This individual leads initiatives to optimize field reimbursement support, drive performance against service level agreements (SLAs), and upholds compliance standards while maintaining a patient-centric mindset.

Vendor & Field Access Program Management

  • Act as the primary liaison with third-party FAS vendor partner; oversee daily operations, KPIs, and SLA adherence.
  • Analyze performance metrics to drive accountability and maximize field reimbursement impact.
  • Lead regular business reviews with vendor leadership and internal stakeholders.
  • Oversee budget planning and forecasting
  • Support program design for new product launches or access initiatives requiring field support.
  • Provide field teams with training and updates on FAS tools, processes, and access resources.
  • Partner with Compliance and Legal to ensure all activities meet regulatory and corporate standards.

Speaker Bureau Oversight

  • Provide strategic and operational oversight of OPM Speaker Bureaus and programs related to Patient Access, including acting as Responsible Amgen Employee (RAE), ensuring compliant and effective execution of promotional speaker programs aligned with field access strategies.
  • Monitor program performance and feedback to enhance speaker engagement quality and effectiveness.
  • Lead planning and execution of speaker training needs.

Cross-Functional & Strategic Alignment

  • Collaborate with Sales, Market Access, Patient Access, and Trade teams to ensure coordinated and effective field efforts in alignment with brand and access objectives.
  • Ensure seamless coordination between vendor FAS specialists and internal field teams (Sales, Access & Reimbursement, HUB).
  • Represent field perspectives to internal leadership by sharing insights, identifying risks, and proposing solutions to access barriers.

Data Analysis & Business Reporting

  • Utilize CRM tools (e.g., Centris) and vendor analytics to evaluate field team activity and speaker program impact.
  • Deliver dashboards, performance summaries, and actionable business insights to senior leadership on a regular cadence.

Team & People Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop one direct report.
  • Set clear objectives, provide ongoing feedback, and manage career development plans.
  • Foster a high-performance, patient-focused culture rooted in integrity and collaboration across Patient Access and Reimbursement Team

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Marketing and/or business experience in a role aligned with a Marketing/Sales commercial organization

OR

Master’s degree and 4 years of Marketing and/or business experience in a role aligned with a Marketing/Sales commercial organization

OR

Bachelor’s Degree and 6 years of Marketing and/or business experience in a role aligned with a Marketing/Sales commercial organization

OR

Associate’s Degree and 10 years of Marketing and/or business experience in a role aligned with a Marketing/Sales commercial organization

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Marketing and/or business experience in a role aligned with a Marketing/Sales commercial organization

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Deep understanding of U.S. payer, reimbursement, and specialty pharmacy landscapes
  • 5+ years in biopharma marketing, sales, or patient access roles
  • Proven experience building and managing access support teams and patient support programs (PSPs)
  • Strong leadership in peer-to-peer speaker bureau oversight and execution
  • Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence without authority
  • Demonstrated success working with field teams and aligning on strategic objectives
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and project management capabilities
  • Experience in Inflammation or other specialty therapeutic areas preferred
  • Proficient in managing external vendors and driving performance metrics
  • Skilled in managing multiple priorities and delivering results in fast-paced environments
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Experience developing impactful materials with agency partners
  • Proven ability to lead initiatives from concept to execution with integrity and collaboration
