What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will lead insights generation by integrating a multitude of data sources to drive impact of the medical organization at Amgen and broadly.
Reporting to the Director of Medical Insights, the Medical Analytics, Senior Manager will play a pivotal role in supporting Global Medical Affairs by serving as a strategic leader and a hands-on contributor in the generation of data-driven insights that inform scientific engagement, strategic decision-making, and patient-focused strategies. This role is a key pillar of the Medical Data and Analytics (MD&A) team, requiring a strong blend of leadership, technical expertise, and business acumen to influence cross-functional stakeholders and elevate the impact of medical insights globally.
In this role, you will lead the design and execution of advanced analytical solutions that extract meaningful insights from complex, diverse datasets, translating both structured and unstructured data into actionable intelligence that informs medical strategy and improves patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the design, development, and deployment of advanced analytical solutions that align with Global Medical Affairs strategic objectives.
- Analyze, synthesize, and integrate various secondary data to uncover insights and recommend actions and business solutions to drive performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to identify and incorporate opportunities to apply AI, machine learning, quantitative methods, multivariate statistics, predictive modeling, and other advanced analytics techniques within Medical Affairs analyses.
- Exercise sound judgement and critical thinking to translate complex analytics into clear, data-driven recommendations that support medical leadership decision-making, inform MSL strategies and enhance patient outcomes.
- Own the development, interpretation and continuous improvement of medical analytics deliverables, including but not limited to dashboards, recurring reports, and KPIs/metrics, and ensure continuous alignment with evolving medical leadership needs.
- Prepare, interpret and present analyses on specific business objectives and in preparation for ad hoc “investigative” requests.
- Lead and support the development of the field medical targeting framework, including HCP segmentation, digital omnichannel tactics, and providing and recommendations for balancing and/or enhanced operational performance.
- Proactively coordinate and promote positive medical and cross-functional stakeholder relations (e.g., Global Field Medical Excellence, US Strategy & Performance, data & analytics teams, etc.) to deliver an integrated and high-quality secondary data analysis and insights capability.
- Demonstrate a growth mindset by continuously advancing the Analytics team capabilities by researching, developing, and implementing new analytical tools, methodologies, internal and external standard processes, new data sources, etc.
- Act as a steward of data integrity and governance, promoting compliance with Amgen enterprise/Medical data management governance and standards; ensure data compliance, integrity, and accuracy in all analyses and reports.
- Location: Flexible Commuter role to Thousand Oaks, US Headquarter site. You will work on-site a minimum of 2 days a week.

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree and 2 years of analytics experience in the biopharmaceutical industry
Or
Master’s degree and 4 years of analytics experience in the biopharmaceutical industry
Or
Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of analytics experience in the biopharmaceutical industry
Or
Associate’s degree and 10 years of analytics experience in the biopharmaceutical industry
Or
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of analytics experience in the biopharmaceutical industry
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated proficiency in Biotechnology/Pharmaceutical secondary data and analytics experience spanning across different teams and therapeutic areas, e.g., National/Subnational, HCP and patient level analysis, field targeting framework, etc.
- Deep understanding of the pharmaceutical ecosystem and data sets including prescription (ex. IQVIA NPA), outlet (ex. IQVIA DDD), Lab as well as medical and pharmacy claims (ex. Symphony Claims.)
- Advanced expertise in performing comprehensive data analysis using SQL and/or Python to extract, clean, and manipulate data, and develop sophisticated statistical/AI-ML models
- Strong track record of synthesizing and integrating multiple secondary data sources to generate high-impact insights, recommendations, and narratives that influence decision making.
- Strong Project management experience, including leading agile ceremonies, writing user stories, and tracking performance through defined KPIs to ensure alignment with business goals.
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively and independently within a highly matrixed organization, building alignment across functions and levels while maintaining accountability for deliverables.
- Exceptional communication and executive presence, including strong active listening, oral and written presentation skills, with the ability to distill complex analytical concepts into clear, compelling messages and visuals tailored to diverse cross functional partners.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
