About the Role
We are looking for a Junior AWS Cloud Engineer (3–5 years’ experience) to support daily cloud operations, basic automation, and security remediation across Amgen’s AWS environments.
This role focuses on monitoring, troubleshooting, patching, and improving cloud operations, while learning and contributing to Infrastructure as Code and AI‑assisted operations.
You will work closely with senior engineers to ensure stable, secure, and cost‑efficient cloud services.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Operations
- Perform daily monitoring, health checks, and basic troubleshooting of AWS resources.
- Support common AWS services: EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM.
- Handle incident tickets, assist with P1/P2 issues under guidance.
- Support patching, backup/restore, and DR drills.
- Maintain operational runbooks and documentation.
Vulnerability & Security Remediation
- Work on findings from Qualys, Wiz, and ServiceNow.
- Apply patches, configuration updates, and validate remediation.
- Follow internal security processes and SLAs.
Infrastructure as Code & Automation
- Maintain and update existing Terraform / CloudFormation modules.
- Write simple automation scripts in Python or Bash.
- Support CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or CodePipeline).
Monitoring & Optimization
- Assist in configuring CloudWatch, Dynatrace, or logging tools.
- Participate in performance tuning and cost optimization activities.
AI‑Assisted Operations (Learning & Support)
- Use AI tools for troubleshooting, runbook generation, and incident summarization.
- Assist senior engineers in implementing AIOps workflows (anomaly detection, automation).
Collaboration
- Work closely with SRE, DevOps, and application teams.
- Follow GitOps and engineering best practices.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
- 3–5 years hands‑on experience with AWS.
- Good understanding of:
- AWS services: EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, RDS, Lambda
- Linux/Windows administration
- Scripting in Python or Bash
- Networking basics (VPC, subnets, routing, security groups)
- CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, CodePipeline)
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
- Experience with Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Basic knowledge of Kubernetes (EKS).
- Exposure to cloud security tools (Security Hub, GuardDuty).
- Understanding of AI/ML services or AIOps concepts.
- AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect – Associate).
Soft Skills
- Strong willingness to learn and grow.
- Good English communication and documentation habits.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced cloud environment.
