Supply Chain Manager -Capacity Planning

What you will do?

In this role, you will be part of the Supply Chain team and report directly to the site Senior Manager of Supply Chain, participating in multiple cross-functional initiatives for Amgen Ohio (AOH) that lead to improvement of the overall planning process applying for enterprise-wide programs. In addition, you will organize, drive, and/or support the identification and implementation of related Supply Chain systems and processes.

Act as a Production Detailed Scheduling Specialist to be the systems and process expert for Amgen’s detailed scheduling systems and sub-systems. The primary responsibilities of this role will be to perform an optimized short-term detail schedule for multiple packaging lines and release process orders to be produced on the manufacturing shop floor to ensure that supply meets predefined inventory targets. Also be in charge of performing short-term capacity planning and level loading to ensure that both commercial and non-commercial activities are governed, prioritized, and sequenced to optimize the efficiencies of the lines. This role is also responsible for identifying, establishing, and leading Work Center Teams (WCT) to monitor key performance measures that will ensure the success of the team and that we serve every patient every time. The role requires consistent and strong communication within Supply Chain and Manufacturing Operations at Amgen Ohio, and also extended collaboration with other Amgen sites.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Represent the planning department in short-term improvement initiatives and planning & product meetings within operations.

  • May directly or indirectly manage the activities of other staff members or outside consultants.

  • Planning standard and non-standard production orders (by following up messages generated by ERP) as well as short-term capacity planning.

  • Prepare a detailed schedule in short-term horizon.

  • Facilitate weekly capacity meetings with the production, QA, Warehouse, and Process Development departments.

  • Collaborate with the regions to ensure supply to the market and manage critical items.

  • Ensure feasible plan and release plan to production lines.

  • Convert Planned process orders to Process orders and ensure a feasible plan.

  • Prepare and own the frozen window towards production.

  • Work with the warehouse and procurement department to ensure the availability of all components at the line.

  • Own and monitor detail scheduling KPI’s and implement solutions to improve the metrics.

  • Plan and coordinate repackaging activities (REDO) and Scrap requests.

  • Own and facilitate the daily SQDIP meeting.

  • Support Projects/Product Launches and Change Controls/ Non-Conformance.

  • Subject Matter Expert for detailed scheduling.

  • Participate and coordinate in short-term improvement projects (Operational Excellence).

  • Create ad-hoc capacity analysis in support of projects and provide recommendations.

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree

Or

Master’s degree and 2 years of Supply Chain work experience

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of Supply Chain work experience

Or

Associate’s degree and 8 years of Supply Chain work experience

Or

High School Diploma/GED degree and 10 years of Supply Chain work experience

Beyond that, additional preferred qualifications are:

  • Business Administration, Supply Chain & Logistics Management, Material Management and/or Industrial Engineering educational background.

  • Good understanding of ERP-SAP and/or Rapid Response - Kinaxis systems.

  • APICS, CPIM, CSCP, or SCOR-P certified.

  • 4+ years of Supply Chain experience.

  • Operational Excellence experience in a regulated industry with a continuous improvement mentality.

  • Experience with regulated environments (i.e. CGMP, GDP OSHA).

  • Proficient user of software applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Smartsheet, Teams, Tableau).

  • Leadership and team building skills.

  • Negotiating, Budgeting, Goal setting, Resource Planning, and Decision-Making skills.

  • Executive presence with critical thinking abilities.

  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience working in a global environment, ability to collaborate /communicate effectively at different management levels.

  • Availability for international business trips and support non-standard shift organization with the flexibility to work extended hours as needed.

  • Knowledge of staff relations with the ability to coach, mentor, and counsel staff when needed.

  • Knowledge of basic compensation system practices and methodologies.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
