What will you do

The Equipment Delivery Project Engineer will join the Project Controls organization within Amgen Engineering and support equipment delivery workstreams across Amgen's global capital project portfolio. Reporting to the Associate Director – Strategic Equipment Delivery, this role will help coordinate equipment delivery activities from planning through closeout by maintaining project controls, tracking supplier progress, supporting documentation readiness, and providing accurate reporting to improve visibility, compliance, and execution.

Working closely with Engineering, Procurement, Project Controls, CQV, suppliers, and digital partners, the Equipment Delivery Project Engineer will contribute to equipment delivery planning, risk management, reporting, audit readiness, and continuous improvement across multiple global engineering projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support equipment delivery planning and reporting activities for assigned capital project equipment packages.
  • Maintain equipment registers, package control trackers, supplier progress trackers, documentation readiness trackers, and related project records.
  • Support weekly equipment delivery reviews by preparing status updates, action logs, risk and issue summaries, escalation inputs, and reporting materials.
  • Track procurement and buyout readiness activities, including supplier assumptions, quotation status, PR/PO readiness, open blockers, and readiness of input packages.
  • Support supplier progress tracking, including supplier acknowledgements, design submittal schedules, fabrication milestones, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), shipping dates, delivery milestones, open actions, and risks.
  • Track design submittals and scope interface readiness, including vendor drawings, utility requirements, interface inputs, review status, open comments, and fabrication readiness.
  • Maintain supplier documentation readiness by tracking expected documentation, due dates, received documents, review status, overdue deliverables, and documentation risks.
  • Support equipment cost, schedule, and risk visibility by maintaining accurate package information, milestone updates, cost indicators, and project risk registers.
  • Maintain accurate, compliant, and traceable project records that support audit readiness, schedule visibility, and informed project decision-making.
  • Partner with Engineering, Procurement, Project Controls, Project Management, CQV, suppliers, and analytics teams to gather, validate, and report project information.
  • Support equipment package closeout activities by documenting lessons learned, supplier performance, documentation gaps, schedule changes, cost signals, and execution dependencies.

Minimum requirements

  • Doctorate degree and 1 year of project controls, source-to-pay, procurement, finance, engineering, capital projects, or related experience.

OR

  • Master's degree and 2 years of project controls, source-to-pay, procurement, finance, engineering, capital projects, or related experience.

OR

  • Bachelor's degree and 4 years of project controls, source-to-pay, procurement, finance, engineering, capital projects, or related experience.

OR

  • Associate's degree and 6 years of project controls, source-to-pay, procurement, finance, engineering, capital projects, or related experience.

OR

  • High school diploma / GED and 8 years of project controls, source-to-pay, procurement, finance, engineering, capital projects, or related experience.
  • Proficiency in English.

Preferred requirements

  • Experience supporting capital project delivery, project controls, engineering coordination, equipment delivery, procurement readiness, supplier management, or related project execution activities.
  • Experience maintaining project trackers, registers, reporting dashboards, action logs, risk registers, and project documentation with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Understanding of capital equipment delivery processes, including procurement readiness, supplier progress, design submittals, fabrication, documentation readiness, delivery, installation support, and project closeout.
  • Experience collaborating with Engineering, Procurement, Project Controls, Project Management, CQV, suppliers, and digital or analytics teams.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to validate information, follow up on actions, and proactively escalate project risks or blockers.
  • Experience supporting cost visibility, schedule management, milestone tracking, and reporting accuracy across project workstreams.
  • Experience maintaining compliant, traceable, and audit-ready project documentation.
  • Experience supporting capital projects within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, advanced manufacturing, or other regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Power BI, SharePoint, project management and reporting tools, automation solutions, and AI-enabled productivity tools.
  • Experience supporting equipment package tracking, supplier performance reporting, documentation readiness, or project reporting activities.
  • Experience working within global organizations, shared service environments, or cross-functional project delivery models.
  • Familiarity with project controls reporting, analytics, reporting standardization, or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Relevant certification in project management, procurement, supply chain, finance, process improvement, or a related discipline is considered an advantage.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, organizational, and coordination skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across global teams, cultures, and time zones.
  • Strong ownership, accountability, and follow-through.
  • Ability to simplify complex information and support practical, efficient ways of working.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify, escalate, and help resolve project issues.
