ABOUT THE ROLE

Role Description:

The Senior Manager, Data Acquisition provides program-level leadership for external and non-CRF clinical data acquisition, integration, reconciliation, and vendor oversight activities across multiple studies and therapeutic area portfolios. The role serves as the operational leader for external data acquisition delivery across assigned portfolios and is responsible for strategy execution, resource management, governance, quality oversight, interoperability, and modernization initiatives while ensuring delivery of compliant, interoperable, analytics-ready, and inspection-ready external data solutions.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Lead execution of external and non-CRF clinical data acquisition strategy and delivery across multiple studies and programs.
  • Lead, coach, and develop direct reports through performance management, talent development, succession planning, and capability building activities.
  • Drive workforce planning and talent allocation across programs to ensure optimal utilization of data acquisition resources.
  • Lead execution of end-to-end clinical data flow processes from acquisition through integration, reconciliation, review, and downstream consumption.
  • Ensure alignment of external data acquisition processes with enterprise data architecture and analytics strategies.
  • Drive adoption of standardized vendor integration processes, reconciliation methodologies, data transfer specifications, and governance practices.
  • Provide leadership for integration and management of external data sources including central laboratories, imaging, eCOA, IRT, wearable devices, and API-enabled data sources.
  • Establish scalable and interoperable external data acquisition frameworks aligned with enterprise data strategy and analytics requirements.
  • Lead governance and issue resolution activities related to vendor integrations, reconciliation processes, and external data quality.
  • Drive implementation of automation, digital integration frameworks, API strategies, and AI-enabled reconciliation initiatives.
  • Partner with Database Design, Clinical Operations, Biostatistics, Statistical Programming, and vendors to ensure efficient and high-quality external data integration.
  • Monitor portfolio-level metrics related to vendor delivery, reconciliation status, integration quality, issue trends, and inspection readiness.
  • Ensure compliance with GCP, SOPs, regulatory expectations, vendor oversight requirements, and inspection readiness standards.
  • Lead vendor oversight activities and support strategic vendor relationship management.
  • Mentor and develop Senior Data Acquisition Specialists and Data Acquisition Specialists while driving consistent operational execution.
  • Support resource forecasting, operational planning, workload prioritization, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Accountabilities:

  • Provides program-level leadership and accountability for external data acquisition and integration delivery across multiple studies and programs.
  • Leads and mentors external data acquisition teams while driving standardization, quality, scalability, and inspection readiness.
  • Accountable for operational execution of end-to-end external data flow processes across assigned portfolios.
  • Serves as the operational leader for external data acquisition delivery across assigned portfolios, influencing enterprise integration standards and modernization initiatives.
  • Ensures reliable, compliant, interoperable, and analytics-ready external data solutions across the portfolio.
  • Drives operational excellence through automation, standardized integration models, and scalable reconciliation processes.

Basic Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 12-17 years of clinical execution experience.

  • Minimum 3 years of people management experience or leadership experience leading teams, programs, vendor oversight activities, data integration strategies, or allocation of resources within clinical development environments.
  • Experience working with clinical data acquisition, external/vendor data management, or clinical data integration processes.

Preferred Experience:

  • 13+ years of clinical data management, external data integration, or clinical operations experience.
  • Extensive experience managing non-CRF data integrations and vendor oversight activities with people leadership experience of 3+ years.
  • Strong expertise in reconciliation methodologies, API integrations, interoperability frameworks, and external data governance.
  • Experience leading global external data acquisition delivery across large portfolios and multiple geographies.
  • Demonstrated experience driving modernization, automation, and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Experience supporting inspection readiness and regulatory audits.
  • Strong understanding of RBQM, centralized monitoring, and clinical data standards.
  • Experience managing external vendors and complex integration ecosystems.
