ABOUT THE ROLE
The Specialist, UX & Visualization Engineerwill serve as a bridge between user experience design and data visualization engineering. This unique role blends front-end user design expertise with strong data visualization capabilities to deliver impactful, intuitive, and high-performing solutions. The individual will focus on designing user interfaces with tools like Figma and design libraries, while also developing advanced Tableau dashboards to enable clear insights and decision-making. This dual skill set ensures that both design usability and visualization excellence are achieved.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Design intuitive, user-friendly interfaces using Figma and modern design libraries, ensuring consistency with Amgen's design system.
Build, maintain, and optimize Tableau dashboards and other visualization tools to deliver actionable insights.
Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into user-centric designs and visualization solutions.
Apply best practices in UX design, data storytelling, and visualization engineering to create impactful user experiences.
Ensure visualization performance and scalability through efficient data modeling and dashboard optimization.
Partner with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, product owners, and analysts, to deliver end-to-end solutions.
Conduct user testing and feedback loops to improve design and visualization outcomes.
Leverage design thinking and agile methodologies to rapidly iterate and deliver high-quality solutions.
Basic Qualifications and Experience:
Master’s degree with a 4 - 6 years of experience in Computer Science, ITor related field OR
Bachelor’s degree with 7 - 10 years of experience in Computer Science, IT or related field
Functional Skills:
Must-Have Skills:
Proven experience with front-end design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.
Strong portfolio demonstrating ability to design clean, modern user interfaces.
Proficiency with design systems, component libraries, and responsive design principles.
Hands-on experience building Tableau dashboards (or similar BI tools such as Power BI, Qlik) with a focus on interactivity, usability, and performance.
Strong understanding of data visualization best practices and data storytelling.
Experience collaborating with product owners, engineers, and analysts in an agile environment.
Ability to bridge UX design with visualization engineering to deliver cohesive solutions.
Good-to-Have Skills:
Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for front-end development.
Familiarity with advanced Tableau features (LOD calculations, parameter actions, performance optimization).
Experience in other visualization frameworks or libraries (e.g., D3.js, Plotly, Highcharts).
Background in human-centered design, HCI, or data analytics.
Professional Certifications (preferred):
Tableau Certified Data Analyst / Tableau Desktop Certified Professional
Soft Skills:
Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
Strong written and verbal communications skills (English) in translating technology content into business-language at various levels
Ability to work effectively with global, virtual teams
High degree of initiative and self-motivation
Ability to manage multiple priorities successfully
Team-oriented, with a focus on achieving team goals
Strong time and task management skills to estimate and successfully meet project timeline with ability to bring consistency and quality assurance across various projects.
